captain2010 2,806
Well lads how hard is it for a Irish dog over in England and is it better to get a younger dog used to the bigger fields than the older dogs, how does the Irish bred dog work out over there and was there any good ones to show good signs, and then English dogs coming to Ireland how do they suit ?????? fitchet 788
There's only one way to be sure and that's to get one over here and have a run. But that said I don't think gooduns have to learn how to run anywhere they just KNOW if that makes any sense. Atb Quote Link to post
SMART DOG 340
I will echo again a dog should kill its quarry no matter land size terrain etc yes some dogs will be better on big land than it Is on small land and vice versa but they should be able to adapt to the different running straight away Quote Link to post
killing crew 2,708
just get your dogs as fit as you can the rest is up to them pal Quote Link to post
captain2010 2,806
So would a younger dog be able to learn on smaller fields gates wire hedges in Ireland and be good, then when older bring to England and slip of in massive fen field run no bother in the fens and adopt straight away, would it not be better to being dog smaller fields and then bring to fens at young age get used to both land s at young age, instead of always running Ireland small fields as young age and then when the dog gets older bring to the fens and let out sure dog never ran on massive land like that, does the dog not have to get used to all sort of fields at a younger age than at a older age ????? prebanpeter 146
captain a proper dog man would not bring a young dog on to the fens i have said before irish dogs after first run on the fens gets clever the pace themselfs back here the no the have to power up to control the hare a dog adapes very quickly to the land you run them and its not about a good dog can run any where its a good dog man runs a dog in the right land 1 Quote Link to post
