Re : " live and let live "...........Do you say that when Muslims protest in our streets ? When a pack of pikeys pitch up at the bottom of your garden ?.......No you make a stand and say what you think is right.

Re : " millions of people watching "...........what % of those millions do you think tune in to watch top level competetive sport ( which its not ) and what % do you think tune in to see " the brave hero " stories ( which sport is not about ).

Re : " governed by their own standards "...........you cant go hare coursing without a dog and still call it hare coursing but you can run a race with no legs and still call it running !!.....you cant just make the rules up as you go along and still call it sport.

Re : " Fellaini "......so you,ll turn a blind eye to cheating when it suits.

You know as well as i do mate nobody gave a f**k for paralympics 20 years ago nobody would of been able to name even 1 paralympic athlete.........but in todays " pc " times we are all under pressure to get behind it no different to the way we are all under pressure to accept a tribe of Muslims moving in next door.......some people bow down to that pressure some dont.........i stress again i think its great that disabled folk can enrich their lives through sport.......just dont put us all on a guilt trip for not embracing it the way we do with mainstream sport.

. No one is calling it main stream , all your other points do have some validation. The rise of the para games has been highlighted Through the partisapation. Of. Injured service men and yes the para game has had a core following it was invented in 1948. Bud to give injured soldiers purpose in life in them days there was no pc. They were on the scrap heap know one give a flying fook , well it's took all them years to bring them to the forefront. Back to Fellini Like I said never look a gift horse in the mouth and against. The shite say know more , gnash. All the categories. In these para games are self explaitary The are tailor made to suit. Different levels of disability. Again it's not your bag. Certain bit I have watched don't fill me with. Excitement either but they are not designed. For you or I. Like I've previously stated. Let them have their. Day.

You have to hold yer hat to the paralympians but this is an interesting debate around Pistorius.

I read an article 2 years ago about him and wanting to be in the able bodied olympics. I for one dont think he should be because of the advantages the blades can give to disabled athletes. He was shown to have better lung capacity and running longevity, but during the article it was obvious that it was the blades that actually meant his body did not have to work as hard to produce the same results as an able bodied person. So, although these athletes are in their own right excellent at what they do and mentally strong, I don't think they should be in the able bodied olympics. Interestingly, he argued that the blades do not give additional advantage; this has also in my eyes been rubbished by that race where the eventual winner was so far behind on the bend. It was obvious that his extra stride and length of blades contributed to the win. If they are going to do this then all athletes should be using the same blades with the same material and design characteristics for overall fairness.

Chhers,

J

Not to mention twisted ankles, calf strains and any number of other problems able bodied athletes are up against.........without sounding cruel, anyone can do a nut and bolt up :icon_redface:

Gte your right and im probably wrong on this occasion.........i dont see anything there is to like or get excited about the paralympics i dont even really see any real bravery in what they,re doing.................but absolutely right let them have their day in the sun  ........ive realised my issue with it all is probably more a society issue than a sporting issue.....just because society thinks we should all roll over and embrace every part of equal opportunities and pc dont change anything for the actual athletes they was doing it before pc and they,ll continue to do it regardless so fair play in that respect.

My last comment on this gnash. While growing up one of my mates got ran over lost a leg below the knee for years I watched him struggle to come to terms with it when you say injurys be leave. Me the sight on skin on plastic rubbing ain't a pretty. Sight over the years he has adapted. To his situation and you would not know. He had a disability. , The advantage of artificial legs well that could be. Taken as the same as drug cheat in normal. Joking joking. Gnash don't. Start lol lol

I tell you what is interesting in all this, could pistorius go faster if those blades were longer,,, and how long would be the limit, could he beat able bodied athletes with more technology , lighter, longer more springy blades?

I dont feel strongly either way on the subject but if the taking part is more for the athletes achievement in life and its not for the sporting side of things then why is it on the tv?

20 years ago it wasnt on tv...............but then 20 years ago we wasnt being bombarded with pc 24 hours a day

Ive just tried to watch a bit of wheelchair rugby :icon_eek: ............if they enjoy it and it gives them a sense of achivement thats great, but to tell the world its a " sport " that warrants an hour on mainstream tv and news headlines i think backs up my statement that its political correctness gone crazy....even the balls the wrong f****n shape !!

what and you think darts is easy :icon_eek: , think of the main achievements you could get in your chosen sport, snooker is a 147,cricket id say is a century, football, maybe a hat trick, golf,a hole in one and any other you care to mention, and il bet all of which are a damn sight easier to do than a 9 darter
