Mr Wilkes 3,066
Yes they certainly work, and i can understand your views of a dark net. It stood out like a sore thumb just like the turquoise ones but it just goes to show a rabbit running for home has only one thing on his mind (safety). whilst in the company of a southern longnetter one night we run out a net right against a road with bad light pollution ..now this net stood out (as bad as the afore mentioned) being lit up by street lights. we pushed the rabbits off the field into the net and didnt do too bad (they had to cross the road into the hospital grounds). when we'd killed the net we watched a straggler walk up to the net and try to push himself through (very gently at 1st ) but we gave him a clap and he panicked and balled himself up.imo a rabbit dont give a feck what colour a net is..but we do. Joonsy 38
colour of long nets can be used to advantage, when rabbits hit the net others following will occasionally be spooked and try to run down alongside the net, sometimes even the full length of the net, to avoid capture, therefore they can clearly see something (and i have seen this happen with various colour nets), often the rabbit running alongside the net will switch-in after a short distance and get re-caught but occasionally the rabbit will run the entire full length of net and switch-in at it's end and avoid capture, if setting more than one net and they are of different colours the rabbit running alongside the net will usually switch-in where two nets join and get re-caught, what happens is that the change of colour fools the rabbit into thinking it has reached the end of the net, it's not the colour that caught that escaping rabbit it's the ''change'' of colour that caught it, i use four different colour nets. if a 90 degree tail is put on the end of the set net it will have a similar result. 1 Quote Link to post
