Mr Wilkes 3,066
Ok im bored...so heres a question to all you longnetters, Over the last few years ive made a few longnets in the usual colour (green) and ive bought sheet netting of various colours, Does anyone think the colour of your longnet affects your chances of catching ?, do you have a preference and why. Guest scramble
ive used longnets of all colours, red, yellow, brown. i dont think it makes any difference what so ever so i dont mind what colour i use, i think the twine weight is more important.. if colour did matter then the bright colours used in purse nets wouldn't catch SCRAMBLE. paulus 26
i believe rabbits are colour blind, so light and dark should be all that would make a difference Quote Link to post
Guest scramble
This got me thinking so had a read on google, apparently rabbits can only tell the difference between blue and green. so it looks like our brown/red/yellow nets will work just the same. SCRAMBLE 1 Quote Link to post

Mr Wilkes 3,066
Well thanks for your replys and ill ad my own now...a couple of years ago i bought a lot of sheet netting from a certain netting company, i bought it in 4z (the proffesionals choice ) and 4" full mesh. when it arrived i was a little dissapointed with the colour (green/turquoise) and after a few conversations with a couple of very good nets men i put end pins and running lines on and set out to give them a go. well...they stood out like a ghost from scooby doo !, did they catch..yes they most certainly did but i had to run a dye through them to satisfy my own ego. i have recently bought more from the same company and it came in a darker green but me being me decided to run a red dye through one..red and green make brown..right wrong in this instance red and green make black . so after a conversation with old stan (netting partner) we decided to put end pins and running lines on and give it a go. our 1st night out this season resulted in 14 rabbits in the black net. and our second outing last night (full moon but plenty of cloud cover) ended in 4 rabbits to the black net. so does colour really matter i think not. by the way my own preference is burgundy ..preferably drank by the bottle .
