Froudy 40
Hi Just wondering if anyone can help I brought a BSA R10 last year from a mate but he removed the shroud from around the barrel and now the barrel is quite short, I am thinking of having the power put up and put on my fac. But am wondering if I should get another shroud or barrel to make it longer as I've been told that a 16.5 inch barrel is better for accuracy, I think the barrel is only 14 inches I haven't got it with me at the min, does anyone know the length of the barrel of a r10 when the shroud is removed? And if I found a shroud and put it on would it make it longer or does the shroud have to be the same length as the barrel, hope this makes sense Any help would be great ATB Froudy Quote Link to post
ArchieHood 3,692
Barrel length is 15.2 inches, the shroud will be slightly longer. Quote Link to post
Froudy 40
Cheers for that mate, do you know how much longer the shroud is roughly, the only reason I ask is when I brought the gun he reckon it was fitted with a ultra barrel but I don't know if he was telling the truth now, I think he might of just got someone to take the shroud off, at the end of the barrel it is screw cut is that right if you take the shroud off, or is the shroud screw cut too if that makes sense, sorry hard to explain but basically just trying to get it back to a standard barrel length so it's a bit more accurture when I get it put on my fac ATB Froudy Quote Link to post
ArchieHood 3,692
An Ultra barrel is about 14 inches long and can be fitted straight on to the gun so no machining is needed. The shroud would need to be reduced and re threaded to take a silencer. I think a mk2 R-10 is 37 inches long,I have a R-10 that has had the barrel and shroud reduced so with a Twinky silencer on it still only measures 37 inches. An email to Darren at http://www.xtxair.co.uk/ will give you all the answers you need regarding your gun. Froudy 40
Hi again mate, I just emailed the guy on BSA forum, he said there's a few different options like either sending the bolt to him and he can either do it with delrin or black rubber or just get a whole new bolt, what did you do mate? Cheers Froudy Quote Link to post
