risingfriend 1,042
cant beat an ultra for the money. i brought a regged m/s for my son to plink with and found it to be spot on and as accurate as my hw100. took a bit of getting used to but found i liked it the more i shot it. its Marmite some love some hate. i love it. secretagentmole 1,701
I like the Ultra rifle to handle and fire, the MMC reloading/cocking system is a faffing blasted muddle that I think actually raises production costs and makes what would be a superb rifle merely ordinary. Pressing the side switch releases the bolt, which you then have to catch with a thumb to prevent stress damage to the actual bolt and a damned loud clack as it hits the endstop scaring everything in huntable range. You then have to press the bolt in loading the gun. Then you have to move the hand along the forend and pull the MMC back, moving you off target, Compare that to HW 100, pull side lever back, Super 10, cycle bolt, R10, cycle bolt, Huntsman, cycle bolt, no contest! I have heard of problems with the MMC system meaning people have double or triple loaded the rifle either forgetting to actuate the MMC or the MMC being a pig and not setting, either way leading to a damned great lump of lead up the spout. The gun is accurate, just let down by a lousy loading system! Edited September 2, 2012 by secretagentmole Quote Link to post
optelic2 48
I prefer my Ultra to the hw100 simply because the one i used to own leaked and the one my friend owns had a leak which cost £130 to get sorted by Hull Cartridge (although its fine now and my mate loves it). Still i personally wont own another... Quote Link to post
Tommy_uppy 2
I love my Ultra and it didn't take long to get used to the cocking system. Allround a very good gun. Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
Cant fault mine.... Its been JB'd regged and has an R10 shroud, accurate just isnt the word..... Darryl Quote Link to post
Bendover 67
I love the little ultra, aside from small, great looking and incredibly accurate i like the fact you don't have to cock the hammer to remove and insert the mag. Plus when you do cock it you can uncock it too. Quote Link to post
hugo1 31
hated it at first but now quite like them even thinking of getting one but they are great little guns for the money Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
I tried one, but the cocking is a bit of a palaver! Quote Link to post
