Ginger shooter 58
Hi I got a female harris hawk she weighs 2.6 at the mo her flying weight 2.3 she's coming to the end of moulting. I've wormed her on panacur and she's fine BUT acouple of her talons have gone grey/white colour some falconers I've spoke to say could be due to moulting some say calcium level etc! Any ideas because it's never happend before! ANY IDEAS??? Cheers Lorne Quote Link to post
Bone42 41
White/grey talons can be caused by a nutritional deficiency.A good varied diet of docs, quail, rat etc should be fed.It will grow out once the balance has been restored...Other than that I'm stumped?!?! Quote Link to post

stoaty1 35
Saw this once with my friends gos. He started to smash the bones up to make sure it ate them and soon saw them come back. Just because its eating quail doesn't mean it isn't picking the meat off the bone and leaving the rest. Start with a good quality supplement and when you pull her you can then ensure she is eating bone. It may take a while because the talon will have to grow out with full vitiamin content. regards, ian 1 Quote Link to post
