Work them hard 339
Leveller what chance does a 16 year old lad from a council estate have of gaining some permission from a keeper to run his lurcher or do a bit of pest control with his terriers on the local estate? let me tell you no chance at all, so the young lad should knock the dogs on the head because he's got nowhere to run his dog? To be fair it may take time and effort but im sure they would get some permission, some of my permission i have now i gained when i was 14 yrs old, i used to get round the local farms and knock on doors, always dressed respectful, none of this trackies and trainers, always spoke politely anyhow its funny how quick you can rack up permission when you have been on one spot in the area it is getting your foot in the door, Its always good to have a bit of common ground like when i ask for permission i will usually just mention i beat on whoevers and do pest control on wherever. Its all about attitude if you have it in your head that well no one is going to give me permission you arent gonna get any.. Getting on doing a bit of beating will get you known to the keepers and you can soon build a trust, It would be nice to see more people actually making an effort and trying to get permission, rather than feck it lets poach some one elses
stabba 10,745
simple fact is this..not everyone is going to be able to obtain permission because there is simply not enough to go round...so where does that leave mr no permission eh? he either jumps the fence or packs up..and in most cases packing up simply isnt an option..atb stabba

danw 1,748
why do folks think that you get knocked back by keepers for permission simple fact is that not 1 week goes by without some one knocking my door (usually as I just sit down to my tea at last)or sending a letter or poking a f*****g business card through the door offering to sort the rabbits/fox/deer what ever for free it gets real f*****g old real quick I can tell you very rare does any one knock the door and ask if I need a hand feeding or strawing up or any of the shite jobs yes beating gets you a way in but think on this most shoots will already have 30 plus beaters and 10 plus pickers up wanting their share so what exactly are you bringing to the party??

redcharge 378
As seen as GTE is ignoring me Giro I'll tell you I approached every keeper in a 30 mile radius from here for some beating, pest control totally free of charge and was turned down by all of them. Now people have mentioned about having the right attitude, I consider myself to be polite and I'll treat others with respect so longs as they treat me the same. It cant be that easy to get land or perhaps I just have one of them faces? Did you try the " menacing violence " route ? ....worked for me ...............No,i agree with what your saying Redcharge i had enough trouble trying to get a foot in the door so to speak.... just lucky i have such good looks and charismatic charm ......but i can imagine how tough some spotty 16 year old herbert might find it......no matter how genuine they are. Most of the farmers and keepers are hard as nails around here mate, they have to be to deal with the lunatics if I tried intimidating them I'd probably walk away not only disheartened but nursing a broken jaw

Lab 10,979
5 years i ran my own shoot and not one c**t chapped my door and asked to sort the foxes out... I'd have gladly accepted....i wouldn't then have to go out in the pishing rain dead of night with a lamp looking for the b*****ds.... and i would have got some sleep for a change!!
