A fox hunt isn't fair leveller but that's a different debate

have disagree malt lacs targeted hare coursing, Because they had basicly failed to get fox hunting banned in its own right, back in the 60s coursing nealy died through lack of interest a small minority kept it alive the 70s brought an influx of new coursing enthusiasts, the cup and old yorkshire became popular once again. The waterloo cup had not been reported on for years exept for small print in sporting press,

lacs mean while were getting more extream with freinds in high places in the media and the entertaiment industrie , From a dozen protesters in the mid seventys to 50 60 late seventys , meanwhile their campain against foxhunting was getting no were, Jim callahans goverment was on its arse thatcher and the tories were gaining strenth the 80s brought thatcher foxhunting was safe with the tories lacs were gaining more and more friends in the media every feb norwest tv would roll up to film the anti s at altcar and the baying coursing crowd why they never botherd before, people in high places at the beeb and granada hunted , coursing became the easy target , yet , the bfss made little effort, ignore them they will go away , They had a fighting fund but still seemed aloof to the real threat all through the 80s the anti lobby hounded labour promising support unions, university grads, lacs, the rpsca, all joining forces. The cup got more and more coverage every year busing in antis from all over , new labour needed the unions the unions needed new labour prescot and co needed money to fight their campain lacs gleefully gave. Promises were made foxhunting's total ban was a bridge to far. Hare coursing was achevible the hunting act enqirey ensued , pheasants protected more than lambs , hares more important than rabbits , deals deals behind closed door coursing was sacrifised to appease. While hunting was given a way out simple, and just to make it more palitable they threw in mink and other mammals as to leave them out would have gave the hunting lobby more amo , blair abstaining gave him a way back with the real players and prescot got a peerage funny old world eh ;)

 Can't argue with that, like I said earlier on the thread none of us mere mortals will ever know what really took place behind the scenes, all we can do is form an opinion based on what we know, or what we think we know. Your's is obviously based on more knowledge than mine..

. Malt am no smart arse just was around at the time and seen. The storm on the horizon and the lack of organisation. To stand up to them the coursing club had no chance they were and are a minority lacs new it and made the most of it even baiting the crowd brought the responce they wanted to portray. Hind sight is a. Fine thing eh. Edited by gonetoearth

Your total lack of knowledge comes across in abundance. Why not go on the young hunters section were you may find a more fruitfull. Conversation.

Yeah I've been thinking the same I've just been informed that South Hams Hunter was a lad called dances and 12345 but has to keep changing his name because he fucks up, he had some thread about using two dogs one as a catch dog and one as a kill dog I never saw any of them so can't comment but I was reminded of this comment he put on another thread :toast::laugh: and when questioned never replied

devon, dorset, somerset and cornwall all great places to hunt and have found that they all seem to specialise in one quarry. so if you want somethink in particular just cross the county borders and there it is

I was genuinely interested as all my hunting is done in the first three counties he mentioned but I'm still none the wiser which county specializes in which quarry.

It's obvious to me he's a young lad with a very blinkered view of the countryside and how wildlife should be managed so I'm sorry I got into a debate I thought he may of had a good argument against foxhunting but it wasn't the case.

I openly appologise personally to Ianb for wasting his bandwidth and the other members that have had to read what's turned into one lad digging a massive hole and constantly contradicting himself. :bye:

when we hunted with fell packs

Funny I only seem to remember one of us on the Fell glued to Michael Nicholson's coat tails watching hounds the other was in a pub car park sat in a truck with the heater on picking broken bits of pink champagne bottle out of their hair :tongue2:

The most effective method for pest control is a gun so why not shoot?

Absolute bollocks, that says more about you and your dogs than anything else

Shooting is more humane, quicker, easier and better for pest control.

Again more shit!

Why should they get permission? I got a dog knowing I would have to poach - stopped me fighting, drinking, taking drugs, selling drugs and much other stuff. I learnt a lot by not having permission for the first several years, stuff I would have never learnt if I had permission. Whether you agree or not it was that poaching that taught me field craft as poaching causes you to be quiet, careful with the lamp and careful whom you take to land you have found. I respect my dogs, quarry and the land in my opinion more because I started out poaching

But you obviously have absolutely no respect for a fellow dogman who has worked hard to gain permission and who respects his land, his deer, his rabbits etc because you feel that you have some right to take what's his based on the grounds that if you're not doing that you'd be pushing drugs on others or fighting?

When I was just starting to get interested in girls I'd play with myself and learn all about how things worked, I'd watch movies, look at blue mags and talk to my peers about sex. I might walk down the road see a hot looking girl who's way out of my league and think I'd love a bit of that but that doesn't give me the right to smack her over the head and smash her back doors in. I do however feel that I could approach her in a polite civil respectful manner and maybe ask her out, wine her dine her I might get a good night kiss, I might even get to stroke her cat through the letter box or she might say simply say no, I've got a boyfriend (someone elses permission) oh well life's unfair.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and I don't do this very often on the sites but based on the absolute ignorance and naivety of so many of your posts I'm going to ask you two questions.

  1. Are you a teenager?

  2. Have you ever sat on stage in Manchester and talked to somebody called Jeremy?

Are you honestly trying to say that hunting an animal with a dog is more efficient than shooting?

. Define hunting !!!!!

Leveller what chance does a 16 year old lad from a council estate have of gaining some permission from a keeper to run his lurcher or do a bit of pest control with his terriers on the local estate? let me tell you no chance at all, so the young lad should knock the dogs on the head because he's got nowhere to run his dog?

Well, after reading many things on here over the last few months before succumbing to temptation and joining, I honestly feel that a lot of people's 'hunting' is sitting at a computer typing fiction. So many of these people are posting virtually 24/7, while also claiming to be out all hours catching huge hauls of every quarry possible.

At the same time though, I've also noticed that there are more than a few people who, by their writings seem to be genuine, and have little trouble seeing straight through the bullshitters.

I agree fully with what earth has just said too. I know from experience that if given the chance along with a bit of schooling, there are some decent young people about.
