Big dogs, Small quarry..........

Recommended Posts

i like seeing a big dog working smaller stuff, although she's still young and finding her way our 26" deerhound x bitch has simply overpowered some catches, scooping them up as she passes if they do jink away from her and she overruns she is often back on them in a stride or two because of her size and length of stride

The lad that keepers the my old beat where u won your fishing has a deer hound/grey x bull/grey, it must be 28"+ and that mops bunnies for fun, certainly don't struggle to get down to pick them up..

this is very typical of the below the belt crap that is the scourge of hunting in all its forms. ive seen it in the field at shows in clubs/pubs. its never far away. where ever you see more than one h

Right, this ain't gonna go down well but here goes ........   To be honest Wodga, for a grown man to get on here out of the blue and just try and belittle an older man and his dogs is absolutely f**

I am not saying its gospel but I think that a big dog can do everything a little dog can do but not vice versa. A big dog will also dog the job faster and cleaner. As I said, just my own way of thin

I like to think I'm not Breed, Type or Size Blind when it comes to running dogs, having owned most pures and crosses over the years, and at the moment have a 23" Terrier bred Lurcher and a 29" Longdog. Both do the job they were bred and brought in for, and both are a joy to watch at their respective trades, but it's nice to know they can do each others jobs, to a certain degree, when needed !

Cheers.

I thought you had a heart condition chart's which would render you usless in this day and age with properly worked running dog's... :hmm:

Well said chart, what happens if we all had f****n beddy whippets and the ban got repealed

we can live in hope do you really think it will ever be repealed and well done big dog

It will never be repealed, mate ! I, and my missus, marched, protested, bought the badges, etc, !! Still go to the Hunts, (was at the Border at Otterburn, on Boxing Day), but it won't stop me from hunting, even if I have to go abroad to do it !! The vast majority on sites like this have never realy HUNTED, they may take their dog out for a run, but the old days of hunting are rapidly reciding into the realms of history !!

Cheers.

i do belive its only ileagal if you get caught :whistling: :whistling:

It's ALLWAYS been ilegal to hunt without permission mate, so the "Ban" didn;t realy apply to the likes of me ! And I've been caught once or twice ! But I did enjoy going to Hunts without Antis taking videos of me, and I realy enjoyed such sporting spectacles as the Waterloo Cup and attending my local Coursing Club, The Border and Coquetdale, unfourtunately those days are long gone...... and a man mooching about with a Lurcher is now looked upon as a criminal !!

Cheers.

f**k all wrong with my heart, either physically or metorphorically ! I had a scare last year, but the quacks say I'm in perfect condition for my age, (60) !" I'm not sure what you're getting at, but I'll work my dogs this season, and hopefully get abroad for my usual hunting in different countries ! I've been invited to Oz , NZ and the Middle East, as well as plenty invites in this country. So don't you concern yourself with my health !
