bunnys 1,228
good luck bird with this welp but as said you are right one should never be presumptious , they should be judged by several of the xs . what i would say personally i have never felt the need to keep a pack of running types as in lurchers . this pup here was showing to be submissive early doors burt is now slowly coming out of her shell , the sumissive type in any xs does not stand a chance on the pack type unless allowed time to find the way up the ladder . bird i my self only feel the need to keep 2 animals for running . and hey you may find you choose and enter and allow the animal to blossom to its full potential , like in life there will allways be the leeders then the followers . atb bunnys. ps ray measured and weighed her today 21tts 35 ilb in weight what ya know wworking whippet dimensions ha ha ha . me1 99
I'm sure a member called 'Heart of Wales' or something similar bred a litter of GSD/Grey a few years back. It would be interesting to hear how that litter turned out. I think Skycat also had a GSD/Grey which she parted with, it might have been one from this litter. Anybody any info? Yes, that's right: she was a lovely, lovely bitch, but not for me: she was very intelligent, easy to train, but just too soft and submissive for me. If I'd had her as an only dog we'd have been fine, but as one of several dogs older and more forceful than she was, she just wasn't able to shine as an individual. don't get me wrong, she was very happy with her position at the bottom of the pack, caught on the lamp, loved beating on the shoot, great retriever, but when push came to shove, she could have done with a few more gears and speed on the flat land I run on. She was very GSD in shape, and could run all day, but not very fast. She was the only one left in the litter when I went to get her: nothing wrong with her, but not forward going enough for how I like a dog: she is now an only dog with a doting master down south: he calls her his Queen LOL Just to add: Steve Barton's GSD crosses I saw many years ago were much more up on the leg than mine, and faster all round. I guess, just like any first cross Collie/Greyhound, there are infinite variations in shape/weight etc, as the GSD itself can vary so much. I saw two other bitches from that litter, and they were much more lightly built than mine. You would be more than welcome to have one of these pups if you was interested? Quote Link to post

That's a very kind offer, and if I didn't have my hands full with the Airedale lurchers I'd have loved one, but I'm determined to do justice to these two, and this season should be their first full on working winter ............. and they DO need a lot of work Quote Link to post
kirstysdad 827
seen a couple over the years and the ones i seen done everything that was asked of them remenber one round luton way that excelled at mountie and fox few years back when you could do it also a lad in belfast in the early 90s had one and he was a seriors dog think maybe the 3/4 cross would do better as a running machine but think for alrounder first cross would be a handy dog was thinking of trying one when i need to replace my old dog the only thing i would worry about would be temperment as i would need one to work along side terriers any way good luck with the pups and keep us posted on their progress Quote Link to post
