Do you reckon they will be anygood at security/protection aswell as filling the pot ? ATB you never know mate, its what comes out in the pups temp ,the the grey or the alsation temp. If they get the gsd temp yes they would guard your place and they will be big dogs , so put most people off . I will soon find out lol Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,164
They should make pretty obedient and responsive pups. Good luck with them. Quote Link to post

bird 9,973
Should be very handy pups if throw right! What has gsd crosses hips come out like in the past?? my vet said, that you shouldnt get any hip probs , because the greyhound in there would have diluted it down in the genes . And hip probs (HD) you get more in the show gsd's than in the working line gsd's , not saying you carnt get it but it wont be as bad a pure show gsd .!! My vets do the greyhounds at the W-ton track , and are very good with any type of running dog, been using them 20 years, will have my dog pup booked in there when i get him for his jabs+ check over Quote Link to post

Guest bezza
I'm sure a member called 'Heart of Wales' or something similar bred a litter of GSD/Grey a few years back. It would be interesting to hear how that litter turned out. I think Skycat also had a GSD/Grey which she parted with, it might have been one from this litter. Anybody any info? Quote Link to post

It would be interesting to hear how that litter turned out. I think Skycat also had a GSD/Grey which she parted with, it might have been one from this litter. Anybody any info? Yes, that's right: she was a lovely, lovely bitch, but not for me: she was very intelligent, easy to train, but just too soft and submissive for me. If I'd had her as an only dog we'd have been fine, but as one of several dogs older and more forceful than she was, she just wasn't able to shine as an individual. don't get me wrong, she was very happy with her position at the bottom of the pack, caught on the lamp, loved beating on the shoot, great retriever, but when push came to shove, she could have done with a few more gears and speed on the flat land I run on. She was very GSD in shape, and could run all day, but not very fast. She was the only one left in the litter when I went to get her: nothing wrong with her, but not forward going enough for how I like a dog: she is now an only dog with a doting master down south: he calls her his Queen LOL Just to add: Steve Barton's GSD crosses I saw many years ago were much more up on the leg than mine, and faster all round. I guess, just like any first cross Collie/Greyhound, there are infinite variations in shape/weight etc, as the GSD itself can vary so much. I saw two other bitches from that litter, and they were much more lightly built than mine. Quote Link to post

This x from what ive been told by lads who worked them before have been very full on type dogs tackle any quarry , and will mix it with another dog, and being big feckers can do lot of damage very quick. Ive spoke to Steve Barton on another site, and told him that i am getting a 1x dog pup from very good dogs. He said if it turns out like his 1x male he got , you will have very good bidble dog , lots of guts , fast+ agile enough to take most quarry and easy to live with dog that can guard and full on type dog , he said you wont look back . All my other lurchers have been good dogs bullxs and colliesx Bryn now great rabbit dog day+ night , just wanted to try somthing differnt to what ive had the in last 25 years .Iknow you like runnning type dogs with bit of saluki in the mix , and do for you and get on with them, i think i would feck them up with my temp as, i like dog to do as i say , not think about it 1st lol. And1x gsd x grey i think will be spot on for me regards that , but as i said you need luck when you pick any pup , only time will tell 3 Quote Link to post
