I love it when people call them "reds" even seen wanted adverts on facebook for dogs that must do "Zebras or Stripeys" f*****g gimps. I know antis are dumb but give them some credit

Perhaps it is a vain effort by the site administrators to try to save some people from themselves. How many times have we seen folks crying on here about 'the b*******ds' raiding their houses and tak

Well, it looks like my post has opened a can of worms, probably for the good, as some messers are gone, and everyone else knows now what will and won't be tolerated. Obviously anything ilegal should b

Thanks MOO and Moll I was beginning to think I wasn't among like minded folk for a minute or two.

In this day and age whatever your chosen past time you have a duty and a responsibility to be seen to be doing it properly. Some people are honestly their own worst enemies on the forums all it takes is a little decorum. Some members on here are so far removed from the countryside/wildlife/agriculture even basic canine knowledge that in my opinion they haven't earned the right to hunt/control pests etc etc. We all differ on opinions and methods that's what gives this site a reason for being here to discuss and share our thoughts with each other, unfortunately the more I read on here the further away I feel from many of the members, not all there are some good folk around and I've met plenty form the sites.

The bottom line is just ask yourself if what you're posting isn't constructive and showing us in a positive light then why would you want to post it? it's just anti fodder and more nails in the coffin of rural ways.

I agree Leveller, there is a lot of people detached from the countryside as you say, they just want to kill, thats it basically, or something to put up a fight. How or where its done they don't care..

So is the general consensus that there should be no more pics or stories of hunting, even where and when it's legal ??? I'm sure gonna miss the posts by the Yanks and Ozzies and lads that hunt overseas, if that is the case !!

Cheers.

No we know if someone is genuine.

  1. We can see their country IP
  2. We can see its different terrain, quarry, dogs
  3. They can normally put a sentence together
  4. If its legal, there's not a problem.

Rather than asking whether to enter your dog to reds or not don't you have a responsibility as a fellow dogman to ask if the reds are causing a problem or not? too many people are running about the countryside killing stuff for no real reason and it's not just lurchers there's plenty of idiots with rifles who "pop out to see what they can get" Deer, Fox, Hare whatever I'll never get my head around it. I'm not knocking Keepers or Pest Controllers or even somebody putting a bit of meat in the freezer these in my eyes are genuine reasons to be doing what we do but if you don't know whether or not to enter your dog I'm guessing the red isn't causing anybody a problem so leave it be.

Sometimes you talk some sense Leveller

There are two sides to the coin ,whilst I dont post photos of what I am doing, some lads old and young do, this is thier choice illegal activity or not. The lacs and the tree huggers post all kinds of photographs and spew thier poison in thier quest to eradicate hunting one way or another, so some of the people who think the hunting ban should be repealed carry on and are willing to show they are not phased by the ban and years after it was draconianly imposed the hunting is still going on. It is across the generations who do it and why should they cow tow to the antis and halt thier sporting activities whether the photos go up or not the police, the lacs and the tree huggers know what we are doing so carry on regardless

 , just wish it could be like the earthdog section where posts are checked before being posted to avoid un-necessary bans

Close the site down for a while, that will make the silly buggers think twice, showing no respect for mods or admin

i dont think this would achieve anything, i also dont believe that people are disrespecting mods or admins, just trying to help make the site a better place, atb

Ian started THL for all to enjoy. and has clearly stated the rules, time and time again, yet some folks clearly flout those rules, they wouldnt be allowed to get away with it on other dog forums, once banned, thats it, your banned, to lenient on this site, some of the stuff posted asking for trouble, wait and see

No respect shown to admin and mods

but other site are invite only and thats the way they want it start there own !!! ian wants a open site as you said and thats what it is open anyone can get on here without joining up , it for all to enjoy ,

No respect shown to admin and mods

does not bother me what does is THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THERE SPORT !!!!

ATB SOUNDER

Well the way I see it is, yes it's Ian's site so its run as Ian sees fit.. But on the flip side in my opinion having such a big site with so many let's say il educated members with regards there postings, because its a open site, having it "open for all to enjoy" isn't doing our sport any favours at all!!.. It's just giving endless ammunition to the enemy In a war that's going to be hard enough to win without shite getting splattered about a open forum for them to use against us.. This never seams to be mentioned by mods or admin, do you/they think that having a open forum is really worth it?? What advantages does it bring against the above which I think is a HUGE disadvantage to our sport..

Edited to add.. Please don't say it's informative to new starters because 90% of what's posted is probably factually in correct by the il educated amongst us..

i agree alimac, it would just be a lot of hassle to make these changes i think, so an easy option would be to check posts before they ave been posted, but again it doesnt bother me because i never post anything illegal or dodgy on the internet

Obviously, (I hope), someone with a UK IP address can still post about things that are LEGAL in other countries, even if they are ILEGAL in the UK; so couldn;t the "warning" be worded to reflect that ? Some people may take the "warning" literally and refrain from posting what could be interesting and informative posts.

Cheers.

So remove it you mean? As suggesting what you said is pointless.

To be honest, this section causes more hassle than any other forum on here..

So what can be done?

Do we just monitor the forum and remove idiots on site..which could take a long long time.

Do we make it so members have to be approved by showing they are genuine, trustworthy and can spell their own name, time consuming still...

Do we remove the section all together

What should be done to improve things for everyone involved..give me some suggestions..

The best section is the lurcher section, its why most of us come on here,But it needs moderating hard as i said on another topic lads wouldnt bother typing sh** if they knew it wasnt going to stay up,and they would get banned.Ive seen lads get banned one night and the next night come back on and restart the topic they got banned for the night before,You wouldnt need to be columbo to work that out. They should be banned again.but often arnt.Get a few more mods that arnt afraid to moderate(not aimed at any one). The genral section should be changed to current affairs or somthing to cut back on all the whats your favourite vegtable type threads. So lads making 50 posts aday might start making some on hunting instead of the place looking like face book.As said earlier by some one it just needs clear rules inforcing farely.Bit like a pack of hounds quite easy to keep order but bloody hard to get them back once rioting.

your all for tough modding as i said to you ............if i was banned now and email ip and user name i be back on in ten minutes banning them only slows it down does not stop them , it easy if you know how and it the net many way of doing it , we all like to see good thread good replys but your always going to get muppets post silly pic

Speaking as someone who used to post pictures of their nights work...I say keep it as it is.....saw first hand the damage a few ill thought out pictures can do....If you gotta take a pic put it in an album and keep it to yourself. It's tough enough out there without giving out open invitations to the authorities to visit you. Stay safe and let's be careful out there

It is legal in the north to run hare with dogs as long as it's not an organised event (public paying in to watch ect) 2 dogs in a field running hares you can't be done for

Don't you mean 'legal' Weasle? Coursing in Ireland that is.

You need a licence from who evers in charge of the department at the time, these are given to coursing clubs beagle packs other wise its illegle,From what i gather though, no one had really even thought about the fact that maybe a lurcher could catch the odd hare,Untill last year with all stupid coursing threads on here suddenly every paper had a little clippet about watching out for rural crime groups of lurchers ect.Even lads that had always got along with the greyhound lads were finding backs being turned. The coursing lads put a lot of time and money into catching hares worming feeding for lads on here boasting about killing and showing no respect for hare dog or people has upset the apple cart.
