Just make sure you have a big stick with you mate :whistling: . Believe it or not one of the worst things to get in caught in the longnets are bloody hedgehogs, Ba****ds to get out.

What to do if you get something other than a rabbit caught in your longnet where you are (somewhere you need to be quiet ) have just spent £100 on a new quickset i dont fancy getting it ruined ?

Simple answer is don't use the net if it means that much to you. Nets get damaged all the time, they are a tool to be used. In that use they get damaged rabbits chewing the bottom line, chewing holes in the netting. As has been mentioned hedgehogs and other creatures of the night do find their way into the net, some will burst their way out, others have to be cut out.

The best tip I can give you is learn how to repair them, cos as sure as eggs is eggs you will need the skill at some point.

They are a pain to get out, last season i was working a nice little 50yrd drop with stan (lad who nets with me) and when we arrived back at the net he bent down and as he reached out to pick up the rabbit he jumped up and screamed "bloody hedgehog" , it was pitch black and anyone could have made the mistake. we found which way he enterd the net and we grabbed the mesh either side of it and pulled as hard as we could and old spikey rolled right out and lived to mess up my net another night :cray:
