Powell93 5
Hi all, I've noticed that The Airgun Centre do finance options for most rifles, I was just wondering if this was worth doing as I couldn't afford a decent second hand one outright let alone a brand new one? Its all good and well saying 'just save up and get one second hand' but in my current situation its quite difficult, seeing as I have another finance going and insurance to pay for, whilst saving to do my full bike test (which is by no means cheap!!). And £30 odd quid a month isn't really that noticeable to a certain degree... For those that want to know i was thinking about the BSA Scorpion SE Combo kit they do. all comments welcome (apart from the 'save up' ones ) Regards Lee Edit: And the customer service from them has got to be worth the little extra in the long run eyy?! But saving IS with those things coming out. However adding another 'Bill' of around £25 monthly (changed from 30 as I played with the options a little) couldn't do that much harm... could it? paulus 26
small monthly payments can soon add up to large unmanagable debt very quickly, why not just give £30 a month to someone else to save in 10 months you will be sorted the same as having the finance but without the worry 2 Quote Link to post

But on a serious note I like that idea, but the free service and repairs from The Airgun Centre for as long as I own the rifle is REALLY tempting aswell. Regards Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
From what you say Lee, it seems like you're pretty well up with commitments as it is . Or why would you ask? It's really up to you whether or not taking on another debt is something you can really afford. But, consider also the interest you have to pay. add in the interest on the loan and you will end up paying an awful lot more for your rifle. I know "save up!" is not what you want to hear but, honestly, in the long run, you'll be glad you did. I saved up for all my rifles and I owe nobody nowt for them! And I treasure them for knowing what it took to get them. Paulus has a wise suggestion here, Why not give 30 quid a month to someone you trust to keep for you. Add in a bit more when you can. Nothing beats that feeling of going to your gunshop with the cash in your pocket and watching that rifle you really want, coming down from the display racks! Pianoman Edit to add. Free service and repair is not much compensation if you run into debt problems. Unlikey you'll need that so soon anyway? Edited August 27, 2012 by pianoman Quote Link to post

Powell93 5
I think your all right! after reading these comments I cant help but feel im rushing to get a rifle, and that instead i should be more patient and wait and get one fully paid for... just as Pianoman has said - the feeling of watching that rifle down from the display rack, knowing you don't owe anyone anything for it. Timmytree, you make some good points, I suppose I'm just worried about things going wrong, but maybe its better not to think of such things. And Davy, that sounds like a good idea, I'll get in contact with them as soon as I can and find out My mind has definitely been positively swayed today, thanks guys Regards Lee Quote Link to post

AR177 588
Unfortunately we now live in a world of credit and it has become the norm to buy things with loans (which is what the finance agreement is) Houses, Cars, Tv's, Furniture, and now Air rifles - you can get pritty much anything of value on finance.. Im in two minds about this, One side of me (the old man/farther) says If you don't have the cash then you cant buy it, you have to work and save for what you want - which was the way i was brought up And the other side (the 24yr old) says ... WOO I JUST BOUGHT A NEW RAPID!!!!!! :boogy: thats the side i have a wife to keep in check I dont see anything wrong with getting one on finance, but you have to make sure you can make the terms and conditions because the consequences can be severe if you cant - Just dont be impulsive and rush out to buy one because finance is available, its better to save and buy outright so there are no ties or strings attached ATB Adam Quote Link to post
