Don 5
Hi, I'm thinking about lining my collie cross bitch sometime next year, she's 3/4 Greyhound 1/8 Beardie 1/8 Border collie, she's come on canny for what I want so was hoping to have a pup of her, problem is I'm really not sure what to line her with, has anyone with experience (I've not bred any lurcher pups) got any suggestions as to what to put over her, I use her for lamping bunnies and mooching about through the day. Cheers Don. Quote Link to post

Richard Morgan 38
look at what you would like out of the line first mate, what do you think she could do with adding to her attributes atb Quote Link to post
Floyd17586 454
Yea id say another 3/4 gh 1/4collie x unless u think ur bitch is missing summit then look to add that quality Quote Link to post
freelance 448
Yea id say another 3/4 gh 1/4collie x unless u think ur bitch is missing summit then look to add that quality Personally i wouldn't put another 3/4 grey 1/4 collie over a 3/4 bred already, as in my opinion i think the progeny would be too greyhoundy and possibly have no wind and shit feet. Just my opinion chaps Cheers Atb 2 Quote Link to post
Don 5
Thanks for replies lads, I'm not sure what more attributes I'd like to add, I'm not saying that she's perfect lol but she's good enough for me, she's loyal, bright, fast enough and retrieves live to hand, the only thing she's doesn't like much is going into cover, but to be honest that doesn't bother me much, she seems to have a canny nose on her also, I guess I'm looking to replicate her and start my own line off so to speak, but I'm not sure what the best way to do this. 1 Quote Link to post

I think personal Sal types mix well with Collie types and make half decent alrounders for ediable game but thats just my prefernce Or D/hxGh type. But Ray's Bryn is a very decent first cross and iam sure you'll keep alot of what youve mentioned you like about your bitch as iam sure Bryns very simalar in work style but i know he's a real good bushing dog also 1 Quote Link to post

At least you know it's worked and doing what you want.... Good luck Quote Link to post
