The bitch was a 1/2x , and the best busher/ moucher I,v ever had , nippy rather than fast . The dog is a 3/4x and a decent enough dog , lacks the top end and gears of a pure whippet though .

great little dogs big hearts and drive i had a few over the years best was a 3/4 whippet x bull did 34 rabbits up shap fell in good time liked the red uns to atb troter

i must have had a few freaks then because the ones i have owned and ran with did the job atb

Only a few but they take to much damage I found to do the every night like a good bull/grey. The problem I found is that because of there size and heart it is closer to a fight. A good bull/grey of 60 plus pounds can do it in a few shakes or turn it over and bite through the rib cage where as the bull/whips I've seen where more like 30 maybe 35 pound so after one fix where ready for home due to the damage.

I suppose it depends really, if you want the dog to kill foxes get a bull/grey. Get a bull/whip and let them catch the fox and kill it with a blade an they'd be ok but don't really think its a good idea to expect them to do '3-4 foxes a week let alone a night unless you want to step in. I know you may get the ones that can kill but I found them to be glutens for punishment and it being kinder to step in and help them. If I was to get a bull/whip I'd use it for rabbit and take the odd fox, well any fox I seen and try and be quick to help it so as it didn't take to much damage but I don't think I'd use it for calling foxes night after night.

Just my opinion, people may disagree but hey that's the Internet for you

right mate if you had to help it out it was not a fox dog so should have not been run at them and a good whippet bull will sort a red un out in good time .atb

As I said Paulus I'm going on what I've seen, the ones I've seen took to much damage to do them nightly for my liking as they'd always be sore the next night. May have jut been them. Also your bitch looks of a good strong stamp where as these where all like whippets with larger heads on them

shes old and fat now and getting more tumors as time goes by, but she was a good bitch in her day, i would have to agree they can be dog aggresive if not kept in check, the same as any other bull cross,

Ive seen a few in action and even bred a litter of genuine 1st crosses myself and have never seen one that could kill foxes cleanly (regularly) Edited by downsouth

Troter58 i'm with you on this one. a lot of bull/greyhounds i've seen seemed to take the fight to the fox than getting the job done.

I've seen a few bull/whippets do their stuff and i love the way they work....100% all the time. Non stop going for it.

Moll on here has a 1st cross, its like a little tank and wont stop at anything. Sometimes not for her own ( i think Moll might add to this)....lol

And my mate(he is on here) has one as well, (mainly whippet with some bull in there). Again totally comitted at all times and will never stop. The only time i've seen that dog slow up, when it had a big stick run into hip last season and i still reckon he would have carried on. Both these dogs are a dream to watch, sometimes a little hot headed, but still great to see work. I wouldn't own one, i dont have enough patience to keep control of their obbedience and keep them in check.
