bird 9,969
hi lads can some 1 give me some info on feeding wise prior to hunting as in when to feed before lamping and when not to feed please thanxs i norm give about 1/4 of its food 8-9 hours before i run the dog, then when i get back from lamping give it the rest then. I think it needs bit of grub in its belly, to give it bit more energy. I tried not giving him nout before lamping, and i think they run better with bit of grub in them Quote Link to post
fay 75
see most times i go its a spur of the moment ting so i usualy feed the dogs in the morning as much as they want so that would be round 9 or 10 then if i decide to go id go round 11 that nite so was tinkn was it the wrong ting to do thats nearly 12 hours before a lamp Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
i believe in a 'fatty' (sausages, lamb ribs etc) snack (1/3 to 1/2 a meal) maybe 6hrs before i go out, my logic...dogs obtain their energy from fat so there not taking as much out of themselves.........works for me atb Quote Link to post
paulus 26
each to his own really, what ever works best and all that, but i believe the dogs worked enough without having to digest food, personally i feed between 5 and 6 in the morning but as i say thats my choice and everyone will do things slightly different, so try a few things and see what suites 1 Quote Link to post
