Need help finding a pup

Recommended Posts

Sorry to disturb you lads in your section (im an airgun lad) but i need your help. Are lass is after a rough coat deerhound lurcher x and i cant seem to find who sells them or who to trust. This pup will be kept as a house hold pet so theres no point in me buying a super hunting dog as its a waist if its only going to bound after a ball in the park :). i honestly have no idea who to talk to and who to trust on this subject but if in doubt ask those in the know which is you lads of course) I aint got a load of cash but can offer a decent home to a pup. any light you can shine would be most helpfull. thanks for reading :)

I live in westyorkshire and will try to travel as far as i can but my cars off the rd so we have to relay on are lasses 1 litre :boredom: (please dont luagh too hard :) )

Good man bear for sorting this lad out.

Chris, you should start with intention of working it though mate and set the expectation to your misses that you will as well. I have a dog bred in exactly the same way and i think it would be a waste to have him sat round the house. Theres nothing like the reward you get from putting effort into training a dog then seeing it catch its first rabbits etc.

trust me im tempted but 1 im an airgun lad and love me shooting and 2 the little 4 year old girl next door keeps small furries. now i admit every time i see them my trigger finger gets itchy but cant go doing her bunnys in with rifle or a dog really. :D So no. its just gonna have a cracking life haveing long walks. bounding up the moors and eating and sleeping :)

Dogs can be taught not to touch pet rabbits mate, same as to disregard livestock (may take a little more effort)

I also love my shooting and had air rifles from a very early age. But the rim fire and shotguns tend to stay in the cabinet these days to make way for taking the dogs out. If you get this dog off bear you will see what I mean as there will be a hell of a lot of instinct in there which come 12 months of age will be busting to get out and you will find that simple walks turn into basically hunting.

Also am not far from you if you want an intro into the dogs your welcome to come along for night lamping and bring your air rifle or use my rimfire

true well done Darren top bloke, c/k if you do get the pup, you aint got to work it hard, just few runs in the lamp now+ then ,and take out where there few rabbits in the day for a mooch. All working bred dogs (gun dogs, terriers, running dogs) love to get out where there is quarry about, they get a real buzz from it, they really do love it.

If nowt else you can use it for retrieval of your shot game

I was going to suggest that mate  and not because I'm lazy and take mine out shooting to get them to pick up :icon_redface:

Top bloke bear :victory: just out of interest do you have any idea what price your mate would be selling the pups at

Not sure mate as he will have pups booked already but I might be able to get another pup off him ;)
