gnasher16 30,425
For anyone interested theres a book being released next month called " The Good Son "......which is about a fighter from the ,s in America named Ray Mancini...........Ray had a lot of tragedy in his life including the death of an opponent Duk Koo Kim......this book and the film which is coming out in November mark the 30th anniversary of Kims death. Both book and film are very moving and id recommend any fight fans or indeed fathers in general to give them a look.........Ive known Ray a long time now and having had a lot in common over the years id like to show my admiration and respect by simply " spreading the word " as he calls it.......proceeds of the book/film will go to Duk Koo Kims son who never knew his father. Father/Son relationships good or bad we could all take something from this story.........." The Good Son "

gnasher16 30,425
Good on you chaps its always nice to share common interests ......Ray is one of the most inspirational characters ive ever come across we met back in the mid ,s and kept in touch ever since... he invited me over to his fathers funeral back in 03 we both had the same pressures of living up to the expectations of a fighting father, he surpassed his i wasnt in the same league as mine ............but a kinder more fair and decent man you would be hard pushed to find one of the few people im proud to call a friend. Duk Koo Kims son is now grown up with a succesful career of his own but Ray never forgot him and still to this day he,s not big and butch enough not to fold up into tears over what he calls " taking the life of a man who earned my utmost respect "........the book is a powerful read from a sporting point and a real touching read from a father/son point. Cheers fellas
