South hams hunter 8,935
Was looking at some products today and know people have used juice in dogs so was wondering if people had used any of the legal body building stuff. Was looking at them and seen some can be 400kcal and 70g protein per 100g. Was just wondering if they can be used as an additive to a diet when the dogs are peaking or doing a lot of extra work. rob284 1,682
they dont need the protein if fed on good diet. too much protein and it will just piss it out or cause kidney problems. most dried food has the right percentage of protein for best performance. and creatine is naturally produced in the body and is found in meats like beef. these products wont improve performance, they'll just waste your money and potentially harm your dog if overdone. Mickey Finn 3,034
Not needed. Just feed your dog a quality feed, give it plenty of exercise, and rest. It'll be at it's peak. Quote Link to post
bryanm45 787
Just feed good quality food and water and don't put any of that shite in yer dog, makes humans shit through the eye of a needle so you can imagine the rest. Quote Link to post

paulus 26
steriod use should be limited to only when the gain outways the risk, after injury ect as already said to much protien in a diet will cause kidney problems and kidney problems will leed to all sorts of other complications in a running dog especially with acidosis and rhabdomyolysis Quote Link to post
Sirius 1,391
It's a bad idea, pushed by people with little understanding of dogs IMO. There was terrible article in the Cmw written by Darren Gallagher last year where he recommends its use. Just feed a good balanced diet, natural supplements if needed and keep them fit, a good eye for the management of dogs is all you need. Quote Link to post
