lapin2008 1,587
Best not to think about it I find... Another way to look at it is if you were to take up another outdoor type sport/pastime the cost would probably be similar. Getting into the lurchers as well as the shooting is another costly thing with kennels, runs, food, bigger car (extra diesel) secuirty systems etc etc etc.. the list goes on. But the same would apply if you were buying all the gear for camping/walking/mountain biking or anything else Quote Link to post
What rabbit 2
Tell me about it i find angling is expensive even more so when you start getting into the match fishing side of the sport Quote Link to post

Have spent loads on guchi looking lures and stuff like that over the years when i could of got away with using something i already had! Quote Link to post

Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
i got the lightning xl and was going to stick to it but i sold it to get the 97. then i wanted the 95 as an alternative / plinker and i want a pcp hw100 so i have best of both worlds and if i get more serious permissions with a lot more vermin, i agree with the fishing stuff i go (mainly carp) every now and again .. but match gear is a constant replace buy more type situation and i bet you could spend a hell of a lot on maggots pellets etc.. once you got the carp gear all u need is to top up hooks line and bait lol and my mountain bike was 80quid my mate paid 800 for one lol Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
plus my busfare eveytime i goto gunshops is £4.60 if thats the only place i go that day it could count as shooting expenses lol. luckily i walk to my permission.. but think of all the people who have to put 10..20. even 30 quid in the car just to get to their permissions/shooting ranges Quote Link to post

ghillies 209
a couple year back the 'going rate' that the sellers/consumerisum were using was hobby = 1000 a year at least. thats how they were charging you in the figures and projections. archery worked out cheeper by only by a couple hundred quid and that wasnt going to the hgher cost equipment..and making your own arrows up. 1k to 1.5k for a start off pcp kit and extra's..(new) 10 quid a box of pellets 20 quid fuel to get to my shoot food water etc.. the end game was 1.77 worked out noticeably cheaper shot to shot than .22. enough to sway what calibre i'd use.. both calibersdo the job.(.20 if you can get a good set up...) work out what your paying in the pubs a week if you still hit the town...here your looking at 50 quid or more if you take the missis out, and thats nothing too special, i used to drink every night of the week, bare in mind a pint was 57p when i started and 1.30 odd when i got sick of paying landlords every penny i could lol...18k in 4 years? yeh i feel sick about that alright, that was 2 houses!
