MissRhianL 70
I think throughout any running dogs working life they have all had meetings with Barbwire some good situations where its been a little nic or slight grazing to the skin and some bad where its dug in quite deep and torn the skin leaving a big gaping hole. If your dog does have the slightest tear off the Barbwire its quite important to treat it and thoroughly clean it as ive caught myself especially my fingers or palm of my hand on this stuff and got infected quite quickly. We had an incident with our dog last night with barbwire where it has ripped the crease of the elbow area on the front leg and left a hole there, so amongst that he has the odd slice here and there which you wouldnt notice without looking at him close, so if you got ur dogs jumping fences or gone out for the day or night working, dont just chuck them in the kennel and think 'f**k him its only a cut' just spend the odd 2 minutes and give them a quick look over at the end of the day and bathe any areas that need doing cause it can cause so many infections and put the dog out for many weeks. Imo Anyone who just chucks a dog in the kennel without a thought shouldn't have dogs 3 Quote Link to post

mally 832
Its the same when people have been lamping, they just put the dogs back in the run. I always scrub there feet with a brush and salt water and give them a good look over and rub them down before feeding them. I know then that they will fit and ready for morning.... 1 Quote Link to post

bedwhippet 164
couple of fields round here have fences then on top of that have a foot and a half high of barbed wire to stop poachers, its getting rediculous Quote Link to post
MissRhianL 70
I can understand the farmers point in having it on the field to keep somethings from coming in and somethings from getting out but I went to 1 farm before and all they got is fence posts with 3 rounds of barbwire on it one low, one middle and one at the top of the fence post its a nightmare for the dogs Quote Link to post
