bignoel 14
how do i test a gearbox bearing on a navara d22 ? Edited August 18, 2012 by bignoel
RossM 8,119
Physically impossible unless you strip the box down, if it's failing the box will be noisy when driving and the shaft that the gear is on is engaged.
bignoel 14
its neither of them , its just a vibration and a guess it might be the rear gearbox bearing .the uj's seem fine ,and i noticed a bit of a judder pulling away but only now and again ?? Judder when pulling away and in lower gears? I would hazard a guess at either flywheel or clutch, if it's fitted with a duel mass flywheel then I would say that's your problem. bignoel 14
it only judders now and again ? the vibrations come in at 40 mph and dissapears at 60 mph ??
Chid 6,540
it only judders now and again ? the vibrations come in at 40 mph and dissapears at 60 mph ?? vibrations at speed sound more like a wheel out of balance

Chid 6,540
no i have checked all the inner rims ? A balance weight could of come of , get the wheels re-balanced . As for the judder that will be a clutch problem , get yourself prepared for it going
bignoel 14
not sure about the clutch thing as it gear shifts fine and pulls the horsebox no problem at all .but i will get the balanceing checked as the vibrations seem to be now making its way upto the streering wheel .also the vibration is still there when idle now .i guess its worth a check on the gearbox engine mountings aswell .frigging motors hate it when you cant finger the problem to fix it ,thanks for all the replys lads appreciated

RossM 8,119
Could it be a misfire?
MikeTheDog 153
It could be a prop shaft UJ. Disconnect/remove the prop shaft and check each joint by hand. Gear box bearing faults do not behave as you described. Hopefully it's something less expensive than the clutch!
