skycat 6,173
Definitely OTT mate! Too much, too long, and not tight enough either, from what I can see from the photo. And apart from wasting expensive Vetwrap that amount of bandaging will not sit easy with the dog when its running. I've got no Vetwrap here at the moment, but I'll get some (need to anyway) and do a dummy run on one of my dogs and get some photos up. You only need enough to go just above and below the wrist: not right down to the foot, and you only need a couple of turns: enough to cover the stopper with a couple of layers and to hold a bit of foam in place over the stopper. bigears 205
if you are trying to stop stoppers from getting damaged get yourself a bike inertube and a piece of hollow tube that will fit over your dogs foot , stretch the inertube over the tube, slip tube over dogs foot, pull a bit off the inertube onto th dogs leg/wrist hold and then pull the tube of leaving the inertube over your dogs stopper, will not hinder your dogs movement, TIP if you struggle to get the inertube off the tube put some talcum powder on the tube before you put the inertube on Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
They're way too bulky and allow dirt/mud etc to creep under the edges and risk irritating the skin by getting rubbed against the dog's legs. I knew someone who tried them on the coursing field with bad results: hampers a working dog's movements too much as well. Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
You wont go far wrong with a bit of micropore and electrician's tape.. Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
for whippet racing a long time ago we used to tape below the stopper only (so there was minimal restriction) and have a bit of flexible cheap carpet protecting the stopper, granted this was for one run only but maybe you could adapt the method Quote Link to post
