TWOTWOTHREE 152
Hi Just wondered how far do some of you have to go for the shooting and trapping etc? Only reason I ask Is I was talking to one of the farmers I do pest control for and in the last few weeks there has been quite a few folk from as far away as 60 to a 100 ish miles turning up asking for permission,im glad I must be doing a good job as they didn't get any im quesing it must be a struggle for them if they want to travel miles for a bit of pigeon shooting as that's what they asked for,I admire their commitment to finding permission good on em, I was lucky most of my shooting etc found me,with a bit of leg work too I've more than enough to keep me in my elements its just the impression I get from just reading the shooting oppertunities section is its hard work to get somewhere,a bit sad really I suppose as some will probably never get a crack at the whip so to speak if half of the town you live in wants the same farms etc, anyway lads keep the farmers happy and ya powder dry or else someone might be doin a road trip to get it, Atb 223 Quote Link to post

optelic2 48
All my permissions are within 10 miles of my house so saves on the old diesel Quote Link to post
wilbert 6
My main shooting is 25 miles from home but I have 5 friends who are farmers and can go on their land any time I wish which is all within 5 miles from home. I would travel further for a special trip for stalking or grouse etc but not on a regular basis. Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
0 miles paulus lol, isn't it nice mate,Last year I moved to a new house thats about a mile and a half away from the previous one,Before i only had to jump over the fence to one permission and cross the lane to another one,and before then I stayed at one of the farms for. Few months when I was lets say between houses, that was even better, shooting literally on the doorstep or box sash bedroom window early in a morning lol,now I have to drive, and use gun slips, Quote Link to post
Jono Hicks 0
Back in New Zealand I would often drive 100km to some of my better locations - I never worried to much about petrol costs. Over here - I have no idea how far I will have to drive if I can find any hunting that is. Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
For me it's a few hundred yards, up to 6 miles with the odd shoot up to 50 miles away. Will be travelling up to Scotland for roe and red though. Quote Link to post
