pup worms

Recommended Posts

ive just gave my 9 week old pup a drontol worming tablet thismorning, i came in from work to find shite alover the garden with what looked like spageti in it, (roundworm) is this normal for a pup? and when do i know there gone ? can they kill him?

its normal if the pup hasnt been wormed regularly as it was growing, It should have been done at 2 weeks old and every fortnight until 3 months old and then every three months.

Your pup will thankyou for getting rid of those out of its guts. Do it again in a fortnight, follow the instructions to the letter on the pack regarding dose etc.

And yes, if left untreated, it could have killed it in time, drawing any nourishment in its food to feed them and not the pup.

Your pup will grow in front of your eyes now without that shit in its guts.

Regards

I would imagine so mate. Was he in good health ( apart from probably a pot belly) before you gave him a wormer ??, if he was then he will probably improve dramatically now. But do him again in about 2 weeks.

i mate he was eating, and playfull , then after the wormer he seemed realy flighty and playfull , had to give him a few slaps for biteing to hard when playing haha , he sound okj?

I would give the pup a shack by the scruff with a stern no!Saves the pup from getting hand shy.As for the worms Bootsha has given all the info you need atb with the pup.

His body will make a lot better use of the ammont you are normally giving him. If he was looking ok on what you were feeding him before with all those worms in him, it cant be far off the mark. Give him lots of small meals a day, as much as he wants, you need to get good timber under any building, his timber is his bones and muscle.

The advice about squaring him up with a shake by the scruff and a stern no is also very good advice, the pup will learn to heed your voice in the future and respond to it rather than do something and expect a slap. You can stop him as he's going to do something wrong with a growl from you, with a slap, he has to do it wrong first to get one......... get my drift, prevention is better than cure mate.
