Guest born to run1083
Cracking pics moll, as said obvious most who's criticised have never seen a dog work cattle. But not be a party pooper but would you pay the vet bill for him biting the animal as never really know a staff to just nipp as cattle dogs do? Not a dig just interested Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,770
God no, just treat it myself, as i would for any dog bite Having said that, she doesn't grab on, as soon as the cattle retreat so does she. She really is a bright little dog, doesn't do it to kill/worry, does it to make them back off Edited August 20, 2012 by Moll. Quote Link to post

She really is a bright little dog, doesn't do it to kill/worry, does it to make them back off I mentioned this in the minshaw thread, my bitch does exactly the same. If the cattle get too close for comfort she snaps at their faces, darting in and out the herd. Gets a bit worked up over it but I can call her off. I wouldn't say she can work cattle but she's not affraid to stand her ground and mix it with em when things get a bit heated. As long as they stay away she is happy to mind her own business but if they don't they will be driven off pretty fast. It's all bullocks round our way and they are nosey boistrous buggers. Great picks molly, It's really nice to have a dog like that. Edited August 20, 2012 by Born Hunter 1 Quote Link to post
Guest bezza
Your dog needs a bit of back up when it's savaging those bullocks Moll. I've got the perfect companion: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/dog-shows-off-amazing-parkour-talent-125843394.html 1 Quote Link to post

planete 120
I used to work cattle with a collie. Dogs who work cattle need to be brave enough to make them back off when the cattle turn on them as some always do. My collie used to first go for the space between the horns, if that failed he would also go for the nose. If the dog does not prove he is the boss, then he will come off worst and is useless for the work. Great photos and brave dog you have there Moll. Love your posts. ATB. 3 Quote Link to post
