Change of Whippet Judge for Birr Game Fair

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately our whippet judge has had to withdraw from judging at Birr on Sunday 26th August. We are very grateful to Paul Reynolds for taking on the job at short notice and we hope whippet owners give him a fantastic entry.

The show starts at 12.30 sharp after the Mourne Digging Championships.

PLEASE NOTE : Terrier, Lurcher and whippet competitors enter through Gate C. Please note there will be different ( to normal) exiting arrangements to take pressure of the entrance. Exhibitors will exit at the bottom of the field rather than going back up the field . It will be well signposted and stewarded.

RACING takes place on Saturday 25th August starting at 12.30.

For further details of the fair and a FREE downloadable programme please visit www.irishgameandcountryfair.com.

An excellent choice Albertj. Paul certainly knows his Whippets and has had many winners himself over the years. Best of luck Paul.

Margaret,

We are very grateful to Paul for stepping in at short notice and to our other judges Seamus for lurchers , Neil for terriers and Kieran, Steven and Pat for the Five Nations.

I hope that competitors will take their decisions in a sporting fashion and that we can agree that its not just UK judges who can judge competently and fairly.

Hi Albert who is juding the terriers at birr hope he is fair and picks the best looking dog and not the man at the end of the lead looking forward to a good show

Neil Cooney is judging terriers - I don't think there are any worries about him not judging the dogs

Did he judge these shows bert before any of your shows

DB,

I think he judged at Moira I don't know whether he judged at Ballinlough. Just like I judged quite a few open shows before I moved up to championship shows - Neil is moving up from smaller shows!

Seriously as I have said before I do not have any problems with the sporting event organisers at Moira or Ballinlough in fact I am friendly with the gundog organisers, air rifkle organisers etc and have a lot of time for their terrier & lurcher organisers and have publicly congratulated them on their innovation to make their events different to those offered at our events.

Apart from some problems in the past my main problem with one of the organisers is that he apparently isn't confident enough in his ability to market & promote his shows under his own brand names but apparenty keeps using ours probably in an apparent attempt to 'tap into' the success of our events eg type into your browser ' irishgamefair.comborris' and you will see what I mean. www.irishgamefair.com is our domain name and irishgamefair is our brand name and registered trade mark. He also went on twitter under 'irishgamefair' and caused us a lot of embrassment by making silly comments about people and organisations.

If you look at the latest edition of the magazine www.countrysportsandcountrylife.com you will see that I welcomed him moving away from this at Moira this year and said it could open up a new cordial relationship between the events but when that apparently didn't work for him, he apparently moved back to using our brand names to try to promote Borris.

I can assure him that I totally wish to avoid any confusion over which shows we organise and which he organises and won't be using his brand names in any of our advertising!
