alun1960 234
It was more around the 50 age mark that he started with the terriers, or have I been told lies by DH? Ive always found him to be VERY Open and honest about his breeding, and different lines and who owned, bred, worked certain big name Black terriers, Big Ron, Vicky, Danny, Moira and Blackie etc. The show ring and money never reaches my interests, and wont. Its up to them, a Shame though. ATB. he was at em in the early 80s that i know of ... 1975 Drefach cafe blue boiler suit dai cap every sunday 7am ish, Tish the gay hairdresser ran the cafe then the guy with a humped back later, then dog lads kept a lower profile as it got hot! if you wernt there before it opened you would be queing for a table, I remember the gay and hunchback, and the que down to the bus stop, mostly escort vans lol Started off in a grey BT moggy 1000 then progressed to an escort van -ex redifussion hand painted, met and still mates with some good lads from those days, was a different mindset around then enjoyed and learnt good and bad ! Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Might be a gent but double standards is not a good quality .Slagging off riflemen one minute then shooting two in a hole the next at rutting time .I shot a pair shagging some time ago and he wrote about it in the mag decrying the act as to be so terrible .In the same mag he's digging a couple of brace and shooting all .Now I realise he's well into his dogs as am I but he does it under the heading of pest control for farmers ,so do I but I got lucky with the rifle that day and not the dogs .Constantly slagging riflemen is terrier men talk for there my foxes ,a mindset that gives no credibility to hunts and forms a divide between those that perform a proper pest control duty and those that think terriers and hunting is the only way a fox should meet its maker .Double standards 1 Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Openly admits to digging cubs too but would blow an artery if he saw a pic of a few been shot .Met him at the Welsh once where I meant to mention all this but bottled it as he looked real frail.I understand he to have a front for the mag that champions dog work but just wondered what his take would be on proper fox control . frazdog 252
we shouldnt been divided when it comes to fox control, ut them.lads with guns,do my nut in,well not all of them, but any tom dick an harry can shoot foxes,an they kill as many as they can find, the fox has zero chance, not sport in my opinion, but none the less has to be done sometimes jmo 1 Link to post
Tallywacker 262
Spoke to the man one or twice when I came down for the welsh game fair and seamed a nice enough fella, I used to get the edrd mag and over the years I couldn't help to notice the amount of digging partners he use to go through!! Was speaking to a lad from wales once who was a former digging partner of his and he said dh had a terrible habit of making terriers out to be superstars! When they were just mediocre fox dogs at most! Link to post

Tallywacker 262
Your right you don't have to be, but being an author makes it even worse! Think it's just a case of promoting there books/mags! and I'm sure if it were anybody els they'd be shot down in flames!! Goes to show they don't practice what they preach. Link to post
