dee mac 579
i ve been feeding a narrow spot on a fair sized lake now for past few weeks its always been a great spot at start of season and we always get sport even when not fed now the feeding is gone every day i go back to feed there s two adult swans and 5 young there and id says they are having a nibble but thing is im watching it at last light and the duck are coming in but there flighting in just the other side of the pond id like to see them dropping straight into the pool with the feeding just to be sure they are getting the majourity of the grub. ps im feeding it with barley fed along the margins with some potato skins carrot peeling etc just the waste from the diner each evening but have any of you experience with mixing molasses with the barley just to get them hitting the feed as soon as they flight in before the swans and the rest have it munched on me ! remi700 99
Could the wind be having an effect on the way the ducks are approaching the feed? If they cant get landing facing straight into the wind they'd be likely to land somewhere else and swim into the feed. Id use a few decoys close to the feed and make sure that you have a good amount of room down wind for them to land. I've never tried molasses. Atb Mark
