I find it highly strange they don't make left handed versions I mean how hard can it be?

they Use to, but air arms now don't make left hand versions in a lot of their range now as it's a Shame.

they could do it as Theoben have proved by offering full left handed actions and stocks also Ambi dextrous and right handed Stocks.

If it weren't for the fact i can shoot right handed as well as My natural Gifted Left i wouldn't have bought one,

But they are so Pretty and deadly accurate.

Can't be bothered in other words Mawders.

I once actually tried to get an answer out of Air Arms as to why this was the case with the Prosport. All I got was a whingeing excuse about " We ran a market study; No one wants it in left hand versions!" Quote! "There's not enough left hand custom to make a profitable market, too much cost involved turning everything around, blah blah bullshit blah!

1 person in three are left handed.

So I do not buy the lie that there are not enough left handed shooters to form a profitable market. Or no other maker would offer left hand versions of their rifles. Including Air Arms themselves!

I have both versions of the TX200 MkIII - Standard rifle and HC carbine in .22 and .177 respectively, as dedicated left hand rifles and they are both superb guns in the most beautiful Best Quality bespoke American Walnut. The HC in .177 particularly, is an absolute deadly accurate shooting engine with the Bushnell Scopechief scope I have on it.

I do not see any reason why it should not be so with the Prosport

All Air Arms would have to do is reverse the programmes on the computers that cuts the wooden stocks; just as they do with the TX200 stocks. The cylinder actions the Prosport and TX200 share are already made up for left hand shooting. The barrels are the same Lothar Walther model. Then all that remains would be to add the Prosport underlever mechanism.

But no. This is a British company so, there must be a pathetically unreasonable failure to cover all sectors of its market share with one of its top products.

So I remain a dedicated customer to Weihrauch. Who, being a German Company make a better rifle in left hand and ambidextrous versions.

No TX200 can match an HW77 or HW97 in my hands. And I have honestly and earnestly tried with my TX200 pair against my own HW77. I can only assume the same outcome against the Prosport. Close. But not quite the full cigar.

If I can make the October meet, I'll gladly show you.

well simon definitely showed me and my pro sport at the june meet... although for me, i shoot the pro sport better than any other springer i've tried, including a '97k.

cheers, wurz

edited to say, i think they outshoot untuned weihrauchs, but after tuning youre hard pushed to beat a hw...

That's it really John. It all comes down to how well your rifle, pellet and scope all works together in your hands. The Weihrauch HW77 just flows into my shoulder as though it was custom made for my measurements and that is a huge advantage to begin with. And Andy (FR1968) should take the credit for tuning it to such a refined shooting manner. I have an awesome air rifle to go out shooting with.

You get on just as well with your Prosport so, we both come out on top!

You are a truly fine marksman mate, in a company of some of the finest men and shooters I've ever met in my lifetime of shooting; and there's some fine lads among the newer names on here. So anything I've won is very far from easilly accomplished. Just look at the company we are in!

It's a bloomin' shame about the Prosport for me as, I think I could shoot that particular air rifle really well. It just looks so right. A bit like the Remington 700D M40A1 I shot with on exchanges in the US during my service days. (Now that's a rifle!) .

I certainly do not wish to say it is an inferior rifle to the HW77. I do not for a moment think it is. Having handled a few, the ballance is a bit better than a TX200 and in .177 it would be deadly accurate for me. Both for hunting and competition shooting.

I'd honestly have had two Prosports in both calibres had it proven so to be.

All the best.

Ive just been on Custom Stocks website and found the link to their stocks.

They do a lovely custom stock for the ProSport that if you pay an extra £10 will do it in left handed.

It could be a task of phoning up Air Arms and asking them to sell you or your local RFD just a action of a ProSport (less stock) and then buying the custom one.

Just a thought.

i think you may be overrating my abilities but thanks very much for the kind words simon, especially from probably the best springer shot i've ever seen( if carlsberg made snipers lol)

the thing for me with the pro sport is the fit, particularly the comb height since it gives my finely chiseled features(stop laughing at the back there!) a perfect cheek weld every time i shoulder it. which was why i got instead of a 77 or 97k, purely down to the feeling in the shoulder for me.

youre right about the remington 700 comparison, especially with the weihrauch 77 silencer on it, it looks, well, bloody huge for starters but very similar to the remy and i think it has a touch of the old weatherby mk4 in the stock especially. never shot either though, but i can imagine both being superb rifles.

although not as nice as a mk4 smle....

cheers, wurz

Aww John my dear fellow thank you.. :icon_redface: I've got me dad to thank for my shooting skills. He was a really first class shot with an air rifle (he had a 1930s BSA springer which he was shooting with into the 1970s!)) And he could hit anything miles away with the bolt-action .22 rimfire he used to have. He was a very proficient and effective Coldstream Guards sniper during WW2 using an Enfield No4 SMLE and a 34S scope... I shot with exactly the same rifle and scope during the early years of my own time in the RAF. Beautiful rifle and scope set-up. Absolutely pitch-perfect.

That's a good idea Si; a very good idea. It was the original Air Arms stock which I truly fell in love with at first sight though. That lovely wood and fluted forend. I love all that. That's what has kept me from ordering the rifle and having Custom Stock make the handle! Quite apart from it all costing a serious sum of money.

But, coincidentally, I was on the phone to Custom Stock only a few days ago, enquiring about a Tyrolean stock in walnut for an HW80 project I have in mind.

And they've brought the prices of their stocks down considerably. That Tyrolean CS600 would total out at £210 for left hand de-lux walnut. That's a very good price for a bespoke stock. And their CS500 sporting stocks are priced for £20 less, so that is certainly possible to do. Very nice stock that too.

Thinking about this makes it a very appealing idea.

Well let's see if Air Arms will sell me an action-only Prosport via a RFD I know of.

That could well be the winter project.

Cheers and all the best to both you lads.

Simon
