gnasher16 30,046
Gnash, united have more than enough commercial and match day revenue to continute as they are. There is no limit to what a club can spend as long as they generate it themselves. Thats why the stadium naming rights as City stink. They were paid an extortionate amount (100 million I think..) by the owners brother in law. Unfortunately clubs will find a way round them until they close the loopholes. Debt is another factor, but only unmanageable and dangerous debt. The debt that United are in sickens me, but with the value of the club and the massive commercial revenue, it don't count as a dangerous debt. I agree with the FFP rules, but I also find it I strange that Plattini has gone so quiet on the issue since PSG and Anhzi have been spunking the cash and spending far beyond their means. It seems he only had a problem when English sides were doing it.. Right ok i gotcha Malt ...To be honest i was only repeating what i was told by my Arsenal pal i dont really keep an eye on other clubs finances....like my own club dont have enough problems of our own ...............Was part of the idea not that a club has an obligation to " beak even " ? on an annual basis......maybe my info,s wrong but i cant really see some of these clubs breaking even any time soon......and whens this all due to start, they decided it in 2009,said it would take 3 years to implement......well what we waiting for.

Aye mate, it is all about breaking even and spending within a clubs means. It's being gradually phased in with the full rules comming into effect in 2015. Can't see how some of the sugar daddy clubs are going to manage it either.

Hob&Jill 258
See that Song is off to Barca. Good player but very replaceable in my opinion. Good going forward but that isn't great when you're supposed to be played defensive midfield, always left us open at the back. Not that bothered he has gone, as long as we bring in a replacement. Malt 379
Arsenal have gone wrong in recent years by letting all their older players leave IMO. The stupid policy they have of only offering their over 30's piddley little one year deals is stupid. The likes of Viera and Henry would probably have finished their careers there with the right incentives. While the older players may be unable to perform at the high levels they used to, with the experience they have, their mere pressence around the younger players on the pitch, in training and in the dressing room would more than compensate. You look at most teams and they have at least one old head about the place, someone who has spent years at the club and knows what the score is. I can't remember the last top player who finished his career at Arsenal, Bergkamp maybe? Viera is up at City now in a role, someone like that at Arsenal would be invaluable. When letting the older players leave that has given opportunities to the next Generation , Henry , Vieira , Overmars , Ljungberg , Petit ect have all played at there prime at Arsenal and where sold at the right time , its the last couple off seasons that has affected Arsenal on the pitch selling the likes off Nasri & Fabregas who are yet to reach there prime , Remember Ashley Cole spitting his Dummy sayin something similiar when Vieira was sold and sayin Fabregas couldnt replace him , yet he went on to prove Wenger right and as a Footballer surpassed him , i have watched countless players leave for bigger and better things and only a couple have achieved it , nasri has and will at City , Flamini has in Italy at A.C.Milan and Fabregas has/will in Spain , Dont know what Vieira's role is at City but Steve Bould is involved at Arsenal and he knows the club inside out , then you have Liam Brady who if your talking about a Legend he is a living Legend at Arsenal and if any club has a better man to as you say be around the training pitch dressing room ect this man would be unrivaled at Arsenal . It's all very well giving the youngsters their opportunities mate, but what have they done with them? When I look at the Arsenal squad I can't see a Scholes/Giggs/Carragher/Gerrard/Terry/Lampard type figure who can be someone to look up to on the pitch when things are going wrong. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I think Arsenal have lacked a certain presence on the pitch over the last 5 years or so..

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I think Arsenal have lacked a certain presence on the pitch over the last 5 years or so.. They have obviously lacked something but the players you mentioned where all past there best as proved when they moved on and your standing still or going backwards if you stick with players past there best , what they have lacked is not being able to compete in the transfer market for the Best Players and Losing there Best to clubs who can afford figures that cant be turned down , Man City are the Premier League Champions and they dont have a CITY FIGUREHEAD in there team so hows that worked ... Bought Big Players In there Prime and if they continue to do so they will be more successful , Also dont forget Fabregas had been at Arsenal 7 yrs and was a world cup winner so if that couldnt motivate players nothing could and it obviously didnt .
Malt 379
Difference with city is that they've virtually bought a team full of figureheads! ..anyway, bollocks to this mate, the footballs actually started!

You know what Malt you give your opinion ask questions then when as answer comes back you brush it off , so Malt you made a statement saying Vieira could be VITAL at Arsenal in the role he does at City , well tell me what that roll entails Vieira does at City which would be so vital at ARSENAL ! I did answer it.. My point was that basically he would just be someone with experience which is still relevant, someone who has played against some of the players still playing who could be turned to for advice. I didn't brush it off, just can't be arsed arguing with you anymore. I should have maybe bowed out a few pages back because it's obvious that the whole Van Persie to Man Utd thing has got you rattled and you're going go against any opinion I have just because I'm a United fan...
