eather get a cam set up or go gen 2 for that cash outlay

hi power gun lamp? theres 1600lum cree about at resaonable 20 quid marks ish.. or simply get a huge 10million canle power torch or bigger and lug the batteries about or go for li-po packs and a proper balance charger, google a bit on the lipo's theyre fast to charge and can realease silly hi amperes if you need them to, but weight begger all, especially compaired to lead acids.

for the gen 2 if you go that way there are the odd s/h units about, and the odd shop that will put new tubes in them for a reasonable amount, sort of below a grand to 600 ish.. its pot luck or a waiting game for that route.

camera gear? thers planty of ebay knock ups or theres version on here on a few threads of a camera/screen set up. basically i think the camera gear takes a better beeting when it comes to overlight suprises that kill gen1 stuff.

overlight protection comes into a couple of catagories, 1 is it just halves the power so the tube wont blow straight away, buts its a half measure, and things ilke auto gain that you can literally use the intencifier in daylight if your that intent on doing so lol, it reduces the power quickly enough so not to damage the tube.

electro static protection, its not vital but sheesh tis nice, stops the wandering black dots that can take your eye while looking through.

the old NV whistle? avoid if you can, or, if the units is phenominal in its specs you do get used the neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fffff can give you a head ache, and if have tinitous it certainly sparks it off and can change the tone a bit lol.

apart from that head towards ones that will take rechargeable batteries, do the maths on the life time of a nv tube.. gen 1 about a thousand hours divided by the battery life cycle, gets bloody exspencive, a bad power hungry gen1 can cost the price of a gen 2 in batteries in a natural life span of the unit..

no problem..

ir can be as simple as putting an IR PASS filter on, 850nm.. it wont matter that much with camera stuff but going below with NV intencifier stuff can harm the unit, the closer it gets to 'daylight' the closer it is to a burn out light sourse.

(two filters if needs be at 10 million lol...)

something to be aware of.. some materials are invisable under IR, i've heard of things like people tripping over a canoe they couldnt see.. and coke a cola goes see through, just our of intrest like.. i've had no problems so far.

I've just looked at the NS50 and ns200 (cheers rob) they look perfect for me! however with 200quid difference between the two models do i really need the better modle for rats and rabbits with an air rifle??

Here pal watch these and you will see that the cheaper model is well good enough for rat and rabbit with a air rifle.

These are shot by a friend of mine.

Hi

Pulsar are coming out with a new NV set up for air guns in the next 2 months for about £400 . I have been told it will knock spot off all of the other NV in that price range ,How true that is i don't know.
