Yard dogs?

Recommended Posts

Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it....!!!!!!!!

Half the helmets on here will only see a yard dog as a status symbol.

So those with more brain, stop promoting the ownership of a dangerous five minute wonder..!!! :nono:

They simply see it as... 'got meself some decent workers, got to get me a big nutter to protect 'em'.

If keeping a big, ugly, man crazy loon in your yard makes you look 'well ard' to other fecking idiots, then your seriously deluded....

Me, I honestly would not feed or burden myself with such a 'millstone' when other deterrents are the better option....

How the fooookin hell is getting a Presa like getting a legal Pitbull??? There's daft comments on here then there's daft comments and that was a really daft one.....     Get labrodor it's like gett

True mate I always find the "trespassers will be raped" sign works as a pretty good deterrent

An old acquaintance of mine had been a naughty boy, he lived in the back of beyond with just a single track leading to the house. He kept a GSD on a chain by the gate and had no trouble with unwanted

Funny half the bulldog I see are soppy oversized staffs, other half are shite that will only bite you out of nerves.

I had a elkhound that was better than both bulldog s missus owned.

We got a lhasa apso now, small don't eat much, don't need a shovel to clear up and barks most times before people have opened the gate good enough for me.

Determind crooks WILL get past a dog,

May stop casual thieves, but get cctv alarms locks,a lot cheaper in the long run, plus they won't get you in trouble for doing their job,

my brother had an American bulldog ,they stood on the fence opened the gate ,dog run out they jumped over fence, dog locked out, barking Looking confused.

Most can't give a real guard the training or stimulation they need

And end up with tragedies we read about

Unless I was in an isloted location I wouldn't go there again

Exactly if they're intent to break in no dogs going to stop them no matter how big and strong it is.

true Roy, you read about it where real crooks not opportunist, have killed the dogs either shot or poisoned them . A farm where I used to go years go , had a big black Alsatian male dog, that was nasty twat it would make a right mess of you no prob. I think the farmer had trouble with him biting people had the cops there few times, last time a bloke had to go to the A.E very bad. So he kept it on a chain in the day, but had it loose in its run at night, but the run+kennel was chain-link all way round . So the only way to stop him was to shoot it, but famer told me told me he kicked up a right racket if anybody got 100yds to the farm, which as true because even on the chain when I seen him there, he still scare the shit out of you

A big f**k of bulldog, presa, bandogs type would not let you mallet it!! That's the advantage I see with that type over a herder...a mate of mine bred bulldog x neo X Dutch shepherd!!! They are some serious dogs....wouldn't want one of those shaking you about like a terrier would a rat...

dont talk rubbish ...

Iv seen those types whacked with all sorts even a machete and still give it and never turn tail, so explain to me how I was talking rubbish ?

bosun people will say the same about owning a scarred up bullx they only have one to make them look hard lol

My American bulldog knows his job knows who's welcome and who's not. I'd have him over any Shepherd or Rottweiler (I've owned both as well).

what lines is your abd ,? seen few the scott type they looked fit+strong dogs, more pit looking than other types, but I think any abd show greater guarding temp than pits anway. I think few abd lines are having lot of health probs, last time I spoke to bloke's who got+had these type dogs .!!

Yep, KD it's all about lookin tough but the real difference is, that big ugly scared up bull cross, gets out, has a life, is worked...

Yard dogs are, to me, a fecking waist of space, no matter how good they may be at the job, of any breed. Just one trick pony's that will, by most hands, endure a shite life...

Why take that out when you've got ya big scarred up bull and your terriers that work, take 'em separate maybe, how much time, vet bills etc it all adds up...

I repeat, for the vast majority on here... They are five minute wonders, the novelty of your yard loon will soon wear off, then your feeding and shoveling up after a fecking big pent up liability!

An old acquaintance of mine had been a naughty boy, he lived in the back of beyond with just a single track leading to the house. He kept a GSD on a chain by the gate and had no trouble with unwanted visitors. However, the day the plod decided he warranted a visit they could not get past the dog. So they called in the dog handler to deal with the dog, he took one look at the snarling slightly mental GSD, walked back to his van pulled out a fire extinguisher walked up to the dog and as the dog lunged at him he just squirted the fire extinguisher right in the dogs face, the dog immediately ran back into it's cuddy whimpering and more than slightly puzzled and there it stayed till they took it away as he was arrested with no bail.
