im going to be perfectly honest with you .. dont piss about ,get the pup back to the breeder( IF) it is found to be , deaf. ,and stop worryhing about future litters theres enough lurchers out there

I have agreed with the breeder to return him, to be fair to the guy i think he genuinly didnt know. Im gutted as i now have to start looking again but i cant do anything but agree with everyones comme

I don't say this lightly mate, but take the pup back to the breeder it's his responsibility, go and source another pup, it's hard enough getting a lurcher to an acceptable standard without a drawback

I dunno, gonna ring the guy tomorrow. Ive read up about this double merle and im now concerned his eyes may well be an issue too. Gutted

shit happens bud,,,,,but the breeder must be a proper mong if he put to merles together so maybe it might be best to get the pup a pet home, cut your losses and find a well bred pup.....

PLEASE remember tho bud, we are only going on a photo and little snippets of info on here!!! no one off here knows that dog better than you!!! IF YOU think you have the time and patience to rear this dog then by all means try, and be sure to keep us posted as i for one would be interested in a positive result, as im sure alot more would to!!!! but the main thing is dont feel bad about buying it mate, theres far more crooks and wrong uns out there selling lurcher pups than good uns, and anyone who has had to source lurchers themselves without help will have found themselves in a similar situation, when fresh to the game!!!! ultimately the choice is YOURS, and only do what you yourself feels happy with!!! i wish you good luck either way,,,,,,, :victory:

i have'nt read the whole topic but could you use an electric collar??? as you can get them to do different settings buzz / pulse / vibrate / shock and maybe others

so if you want him / her back then you hit the vibrate and treat the pup everytime it comes back so that could over come the recall. and then all you will need is hand signals for

sit

down

stay

watch

ect

atb in what you decide to do

Thanks l1. Seems unfare return the dog to the breeder cos it will only be re sold, my wife wants him checked by the vet and to offer him a pet home here with us. I will discuss it with her further tomorrow and update our decision
