tegater 789
Dont have an open fire anymore, but we used to watch all the embers climbing up the back wall of soot. My Grandad always called them "soldiers" Used to love it when we burned Cedar, as that made some horrendous loud bangs and sparks everywhere!

JohnGalway 1,043
For heating it's hard to beat a stove, for atmosphere you can't beat an open fire. Love the smell of wood smoke, we used to cut turf but our bog ran out a long time ago. After many years of cursing it I miss it now.
lanesra 3,994
Open Fire was good but i much prefer the multi fuel burner now ... cant beat a real fire in the winter whether it be open or a burner
PlasticJock 539
Can't beat an open fire outdoors in the winter... Can't beat getting out of your caravan and sparking one up before cooking a big fry up over it The smell of wood smoke, a nice brew, and peace and quiet. Heaven
Malt 379
My burner is way more efficient and controllable but I still miss the open fires that I had at my mums place and my old place..
