Ghillie2506 3
I have a 25-06 and used it for Red, Roe and Fox and found it good on all although to be gonest it can be a bit sensitive to meat damage on roe so was thinking of changing to 6.5 x x55 or 7mm-08, equally i have heard the 260 is a good round Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,100
They say the 260 is superb but I have no expeirence of it, I have tried various calibers but I keep going back to 6.5x55 it must just suit me I once loaded 85 grain hollow points for that,a murderous little round for fox,but I now stick to my 223 52 grain hollow points for them, each to his own Quote Link to post

3175darren 1,100
I believe 160 grn is the biggest in any of my reloading manuals,I am told 270 or above for boar but the ballistics are very similar between the two ,was advised on here a while back to use 308 on them, the chap seemed to know what he was talking about but I recon the 6.5x55 would do one Quote Link to post

BUT, so would a 22 rimmy in the right spot. Boar need a big lump of lead, .308 minimum, 30-06 is better. I know of no Firearms dept that would approve 243 or 6.5x55 for boar, and for once they are right. Quote Link to post
