Guest bezza
Watch she doesn't chew at the stitches. Some are relaxed with stitches, some worry at them. Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
what did the vet say? any underlying damage? Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
If the vet did say they is any underlying damage Birddog..it will all be down to money..that dog will be fine in several week's.. Quote Link to post
deanflute 550
She's not showing any interest in the stitches as yet bezza but i'll keep my eye on her, they're not accessable anyway with the dressing on but as i say i'll watch her No the vet said it should be fine once it's healed, no nerve damage or anything so it's just a case of healing time now Quote Link to post
chartpolski 23,884
It's just a cut pad, mate. You did the right thing, taking it to the vet's, if you wern't sure what to do. You could have saved a bit of money by simply keeping it clean by cleaning it twice daily with some warm Dettoll but there's nowt wrong with letting the vet see it. Should be healed in a couple of weeks. Good luck with the dog Cheers. 1 Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
i'm glad , she'll be fine in no time, we forget how hardy our mutts are sometimes Quote Link to post

Millet 4,497
cleaning it twice daily with some warm Dettoll Cheers. Chart's a good vet once said to me don't clean a wound on a dog with anything that turn's white in water as it can cause an infection within.. Quote Link to post

A bad vet sure would make thing's up to gain more money..when i was younger and more nieve i once took a terrier to the vet's that used to scratch the floor through nettle sting's after a walk..i did not know that it was the nettles at the time..but he still jabbed the dog twice over a fortnight and charged me each time. Chart's a good vet once said to me don't clean a wound on a dog with anything that turn's white in water as it can cause an infection within.. I've used Dettol, or the "own brand" stuff, on myself and my dogs all my life !! With no apparent side affects. Dettol tells you on the label that it's for cleaning wounds, so, in these days of rampant littagation, I'm sure it's fine ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
