forest of dean redneck 11,665
its good to see someone happy for a change. im glad for you, hope all goes well for. Ditto Where did you move from? I've moved a lot in the last few years, but generally lived in the Midlands which is the wrong type of agriculture for my liking. I saw my first wild goshawks today while out exploring which was cool and I am more and more certain the deer I nearly hit was a red, which would be another first for me. Might have been a sika. I am not the best at identifying deer to be fair, has anyone else seen any reds in this area? It was a glorious big bugger either way so I am glad I saw it
OldNog 432
wouuld have been a sika around your area. You see them quite regular feeding right by the side of the dual carrage way as you get to Dorchester. Where abouts were the goshawks?! Ive only heard of them being around the new forest way
PoshPikey 560
it was a sika. Dorset is an epic county. There is plenty of game but I would get permission as the keepers I know in that neck of the woods are red hot.
South hams hunter 8,924
There are plenty of red in dorset
PoshPikey 560
Really? Around Dorchester and Puddletown?? Are you sure? Because I have Never seen a red deer in DT2 but i see large herds of sika and plenty of roe.
South hams hunter 8,924
Can't think exactly where, if you go into Dorset from Yeovil is where we seen them
sandymere 8,263
Glad your happy, it's not bad that way but 'No surf in Dorset', still to far east. Devon's just across the way and that's gods own country. Edited August 14, 2012 by sandymere

South hams hunter 8,924
devon, dorset, somerset and cornwall all great places to hunt and have found that they all seem to specialise in one quarry. so if you want somethink in particular just cross the county borders and there it is
