silencer will it make a world of difference

i have a TX and have never needed a silencer,once you THWACK ! your quarry the rest are going to scarper.because its the sound of impact not your spring rifle.

the plastic plenum in side your TX is sufficient.

 

TIP.

bring a friend out with you,go stand 35yds away from your tx,and ask them to shoot a safe back stop,while you stand at a different angle and safe distance from the line of fire,and hear it for your self !

on your walk back to your TX, you would of made your mind up " i dont need a silencer!"

All right smart arse just need afew adaptations and twill be fine, give me hacksaw and drill il make it fit and okay maybe a welder to

id still like the silencer mate all the same yesterday morning i must admit it wasnt to bad in the field on the job i havent tryed this mind thanks for advice davyt ill give it a go atb

Was going to say pretty much the same thing Davy!

 

If you stand to one side of a springer when it goes off it sounds like a brass band falling down a lift shaft but if you stand down range of it you dont hear even half as much noise!

From the sound of it, Richard, I think you must have a shorter TX200HC carbine? That rifle has a threaded muzzle to take a screw-in moderator or adaptor. The standard length TX MkIII rifle muzzle is not designed to have any type of silencer fitted.

 

You can get a two-way threaded adaptor which screws into the threaded muzzle alright and, if a silencer is what you absolutely must have, Parker Hale make one that's nicely proportioned to just the right length and width for the TX's Bull-Barrel without much over-bias on the weight to fore. I had one fitted to mine for years till one day, I took it off and, I've never put it back on since. It handles perfectly well without it and so, is genuinely un-necessary to be honest.

 

But whichever make of moderator you can fit, it will not make that much difference to dampening the sound mate, I can assure you.

well guys went for silencer and came out with s410 carbine and a safe, managed to get up on permission with it tonight quiet nice gun actually think i prefer the tx200 hc although early days yet ones gonna be a lamping gun and the other a day gun think am all set now.

i love the spring guns but for quietness you cant really get past the air ones mate just a stroke of luck really skot mate mind you it has been ten year or their abouts since i owned a one my how ive missed it the missues hasnt like

Hey Guys,

 

I have a aa screw in silencer on my tx200hc, and the standard weihrauch one on my hw100t. I have stated on this forum before that i find that the silencer makes quite a difference on the tx and a massive difference on the hw. On the range, it seems to make no difference to accuracy either. My only gripe with it, is that it adds considerable length to the tx and in something like a hide situation, it makes a short gun long again.

 

As to the re action of quarry to the silencer, people mention the 'thwack' noise, well what about if you missed the target and have a chance of a second shot because the game has'nt been spooked!! The last two occasions on one of my golf course permissions, while using my hw100t, i have had the oppurtunity to take 2-3 shots in quick succession with 2-3 head shots. My Hw is of course very quiet, and the 'thwack' sound was way louder than the rifles report. In one instance, i could see two rabbits through my scope. Shooting prone on the bi pod at 35yards, lined up on the left hand target and dropped it with a sweet headshot (loud thwack) while still looking through the scope cycled the side lever and dropped the second one (loud thwack) panned over slightly more to my right and there was another. That one was dropped also. Now i'm not saying i could have done this with my tx, but the pellet impacting did'nt seem to bother any of them, and they we're not, kits or mixy etc...

 

Bottom line, if you fancy a silencer, get one, if you don't like it, sell it.

 

I would also like to say that i have maximum respect for the likes of Pianoman and Davy and this is purely lessons i have learned from my own experience.

 

P.s just read the above post's and it looks like you don't need one now anyway!!!!

im gonna get a couple hw ones next week mate or sooner the shop i went to the other day didnt have the adaptor in stock for tx200 i was shooting the s410 last night about 50 pellets through it and its not that bad either but id rather have the silencers i think atb

my old aa s410k was louder than any springer without the silencer on it!! sounded like a shotgun/ bullet gun!!!

 

i just think it depends on the actual rabbits that are sat there.. some will run, some squat down.. others couldnt give a crap if there mate has just been sniped 5 yards from where they are sat and just keep munching on the grass waiting for you to reload so they can have their turn

I have read a lot of your post's on this forum and as a fellow spring gun fan (specifficaly HW and AA) i'm alway's happy to hear of people praising the virtues of the humble springer, and as a non military man, i have the up most respect for anyone who's served or serving in our nations armed services (my grandfather was a Royal Marine Commando with 30 Assault Unit in WW2). I also hear that you may be one of the finest spring gun shots on this very forum, so i may have to bend your ear one day for some tips and advice!!!!
