collie bull greyhound x 1st x wheaton greyhounds

Recommended Posts

I dont know about the wheaton side of it mate as i have never worked one, but a bull greyhound x collie greyhound is, in my humble opinion, a very underrated cross. I have found them to be one of the most vesatile honest hard working crosses about, I would imagine that or similar cross, in any sort of breeding would bring a lot of good qualities to the party. Again, just my humble opinion.

"A compliment or criticism from an arse hole , has always to be taken with a pinch of salt and ignored thoroughly ". I was given that pearl of wisdom many years ago, I have always found it to be factually correct.

imo i cant see why anyone would put collie into something with bull or wheaten, iv seen good dogs throw bad pups when collie is thrown in there but tbf iv only seen bad collie crosses for what i like, and like iv said before iv only seen a handful run. so for me i wudnt entertain it but if we all had the same opinions this game would be no good,

but why would you want brains in something with bull in it? not being funny just a question mate, myself i like bull crosses to be abit thick and go steaming in, iv never seen a clever dog that doesnt mind getting bit..

a very old bull grey/collie grey. you name it hes done it, driven game, wildfowling, pigeon shooting, beating, picking up, always been 100% to hand on the lamp and a very good dog in cover no fear but the brains to know what to do and when, i put him to a bull whippit bitch to increase the bull and up his take off speed as there is a lot of pasture around here, this light brindle dog is the result, excelent catch dog, good nose ect but he is prone to injuries due to his bull nature, i have put him over a collie cross, to reduce the bull again and try and bring back some of the collie robustness thats in his sire.

on paper its a good x , and the above as come out very good. But when there is( few) breeds in the make up , you just really dont know what will be the strong gene of the breeds that comes through,? But i suppose thats the chance you take with any lurcher , prob 1x s are bit more predicatable , with a bit of luck lol

I'd rather the brains in with the bull personally i think it makes training it easier a mate of mine as a 1/4 bull 1/4 collie 1/2 grey and it had done all quarry single handed and it's retreives to hand every rabbit what more could you ask for out of a lamping dog?

this is a planned mating i have for maybe the end of next season if all goes well.

the brindle bitch is wheaten/greyhound x collie greyhound and the dog is a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie 10 now so i would

like something from him before it's too late and i reckon they should be good on all quarry if their parents are anything to go by.

I dont plan on keeping any myself but they will be given to some friends so i will have something to fall back on when needs be
