gurtwurz 792
hi lads, reading the airgun comics recently(in smiths-i'm too tight to buy them lol) i keep seeing the new walther break barrel getting mentioned, and according to reports its a bit special, to say the least. however, until i see or hear a review from someone who isnt paid to sing its praises i'm keeping hold of my cash, so the question is has anybody had a go on one yet? and is it any good? cheers, wurz Quote Link to post

Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
I read about this in a mag other day apparently its guna b amazing! I rekon this is what si was on about when he said 'a new springer, that will blow everything else out of the water' you could get a pcp for that money so it must be pretty amazing... gurtwurz 792
Just chatted to my mate who works in my local RFD and they had the rep come in in the week, reckons it's smooth as silk to shoot but couldn't do any real accuracy tests with it. Apparently the sporter and synthetic will be around the £360-390 mark, so about the same as a new hw80 then. Mind you I also texted the airgun world comp in the hope of it costing £2... Cheers, wurz Quote Link to post

Wildling 520
Never heard of a bad gun in Those comics Aye you never will either ! Not with the money the make in advertising from the same companies they review ! Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
Thats exactly why I wanna see of anybody 'real' has had a go on one, the comics are just out to sell you shit you don't need at prices you can't afford. Quote Link to post

Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
must admit its quite an ugly gun. IMO lol i hate seing open sights on guns .. dont like the trigger guard either.. However, peformance is the main factor and im sure it shoots brilliant. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
I really do not like the look of the new LGV sporters, with, or without synthetic stocks. I hate unfluted, flat stock forends that will not lend elevation to your high shots from a low prone position, such as pidgeons and crows in trees. However, Walther's all-new LGV Competition Ultra spring break barrel rifle is the new flagship model. And I think it looks really sweet. With an ambidexterous adjustable butt-stock, fluted forend, barrel locking release button and an all-new box of refined gubbins internally. It sounds as though Walther have re-invented the break barrel spring rifle from what Terry Doe in the current Airgun World mag has written of it. Given the magazine writers are clearly told to write absolutely rave product reviews about all manner of crap you wouldn't want given for free, and keep the manufacturers spending money on advertising in them, you can take all their bullshit with a healthy pinch of salt. Seriously though, is this new rifle any better than a nicely tuned Weihrauch HW77, HW80, HW97, HW95 or a smooth-as-it-comes. - out -of-the-box Air Arms TX200 or Prosport? For a price over 500 quid it will probably be a lovely rifle to shoot. No doubt. But I don't honestly believe for a moment, it will outshoot any of the above listed spring rifles costing a decent deal less. I think I know a certain gunshop where I might find one and the owner will let me test it. I'll give it a fair and honest run for its money, with one of my own scopes, and let you know what it's REALLY like ASAP. Simon Edited August 12, 2012 by pianoman 1 Quote Link to post

gurtwurz 792
Simon, thats the best news I could wish to hear-if that rifle isn't accurate in your hands it definitely won't be in mine! I can't see out being better than my pro sport or the '(when it's done, spring arriving this week, yay!) But I like the practacality of the synthetic model 1 Quote Link to post
