stewy1984 0
Ive just sent my application in last week, theyve contacted my permission and made their Visit today. I only asked for a .22lr on my ticket. About an hour ago i got a call of the firearms officer To tell me the land is no good for a .22 but i could have a .17 This must be a mistake? So i can get a .17hmr but not a .22lr. Has anyone had this happen before? Cheers Quote Link to post
jmj121 30
Does sound like a mistake.... my FEO cleared land for .22lr and said that .17hmr would not be suitable .. i would ring and re - check.. who is your police authority ? Quote Link to post
stewy1984 0
Northumbria. Will have to check like you say. Although with everything going so fast and my interview on the 5th sept its a shame. Quote Link to post
SneakyD 5
Some firearms officers seem to believe that the hmr is safer because it is less prone to ricochet Quote Link to post
jmj121 30
You will get a good chance to talk to the FEO, on the 5th and clear things up. 17hmr is a much faster round and will be less prone to ricochet i agree, but you should also take into consideration sound and cost of rounds. either way you i would expect that you have good backstops ( even more so with HMR due to its extended ranges ) so it does seem strange. A well placed shot is all you need. .22lr you can plug bunnies all day... .17hmr one shot and they all run for the hills !! let us know how you get on. Quote Link to post
paulus 26
are you sure they are not trying to clear the land for 22cf instead of 22rf Quote Link to post

stewy1984 0
Well got my ticket today for .22 and .17hmr. When the lady came for my interview she said the reason for only being able to have a .17 was because the land had only ever been asked to be cleared for it before. But thankfully shes sorted that out and got .22 aswell. Quote Link to post
