Is October/November too late?

Hi all

I've posted this on IFF as well but want to maximise my chances of a response

In your valued opinion is November too late to get a Male RT or should I wait till next year now? If someone knows of a MRT that would be ready to leave his parents around that time I would be very grateful, if it was a bit earlier it wouldn't be too much of a problem

Mews is nearly ready, permissions well sorted, over 3,000 acres exclusive to me so far and growing by the week now, one of my permissions fly's red tails and he's been mentoring me for the last 18 months I'm now ready but don't want to buy from an unknown whom can't be trusted

All equipment in place now....don't tell the wife she'll have kittens if she finds the credit card bill....lol

Look forward to your comments, oh if it anyone is wondering I'm 39, Married, no kids, 2 cats and 1 HW100KT

Cheers

Go for it TD.

lets say you get it in October'ish you would still expect to get a good few weeks flying out of it perhaps even a couple of months or more, if you break this down to days flying and you have the time to get out 5 - 7 times a week its still alot of flying.

I wouldn't let taking up a late hawk put you off, if you're on a mission to fly most days you can still have plenty of flying time.........

Thanks J,

That's what I was hoping to hear, I know I could carry on with Scar and Barry till next year but I've waited long enough now, Barry says I'm ready to go now and he's right I am

Can you recommend a reputable RT breeder somewhere close to me that I can contact?

I wish I knew somone who could help you out mate.. it seems the Redtail breeders these days are pretty thin on the ground, shame really as they are a magnificent bird....

You could try the IBR or the Welsh Hawking Club who may well be able to put you onto a local breeder.

fingers crossed for you TD

I may start flying my rt in sept but in all fairness with this warm weather it a waste of time I just do it for fun and fitness really she does not really get going until nov. and really starts in dec when it cold she works best at minus degrees. I know a chap up this way that maybe able to help norfolk and I know there was a chap in south wales he was in the ibr book about 5 years ago who may still be going both of which do very good birds. I will see if i can find any thing out and pass you the info.
