When i had my boat i got the old girl too cook it for me..you can't beat a big lump of cod a few hour's old straight from the sea and home..

Its a lovely wee place mate....could well be the quickness of the fish from sea to shop. Either that they have a secret and not letting on. The batter is nice and crispy, never soggy and the chips are

when you think back to fish and chips from years ago you always queued outside the door because it was cooked fresh when you ordered it not kept warm on a shelf thats why it seemed to taste better and

how many of you walk into a chippy, see a paki behind the counter and feel theres really nothing left they haven't took over????,,,,, :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray:

That's what happened to the one in lydbrook near Ross on wye,

Was a good chippy ,but then that happened ,an they couldn't serve chips to save their lives.

Exactly they buy a good chippie and cant cook the fish its usually greasy as feck

Same with the chinese the oil always tastes and smells like its been in a Chinese takeaway,I don't want chips done like that,

I don't eat fish so always sausage an chips for me.

To get home cooked chips tasting a bit more like fish shop chips deep fry them as normal then wrap them in greaseproof paper then a newpaper style paper for 5-10 minutes! Its amazing what a difference it makes. I use greaseproof paper I picked up at a cash and carry meant for the job to do this. I started doing this after being put on to it by a former chip shop owner.

Never had any always get it drowned in brown sauce since this end of the country chippya don't do home made gravy lol, looks ain't everything as long as it tastes good lol

We only get salt & vinegar in our chippys

One of the best chippys in Kirkaldy is Valentes,we always go there for our fish suppers,

Always queueing out the door aswell, which is a sign of a good fish & chip shop.

Talking of fish & chips, think I'll have some for my tea.............,fook the diet

Anstruther on the East coast of Fife.............award winning chippie.........cant go wrong. Downside if its a nice day you'll be out the door in a queue for up to 45 mins anyway.. :censored:

yep, been to the famous chippie in Anstruther twice and it is just another chippie, albeit busy as you say. Broughty Ferry has a couple of very decent chippies. But the best chippie I ever had was in Dorset a couple to three years ago when on hols staying in Toller Porcorum. The chippie was a shack by the shore in Bridport - battered rock fish 2" thick - stunning - I felt like weeping when I left knowing it would be many years brfore I had another or would match it elsewhere. The batter...!
