Exactly they buy a good chippie and cant cook the fish its usually greasy as feck Same with the chinese the oil always tastes and smells like its been in a Chinese takeaway,I don't want chips done like that, I don't eat fish so always sausage an chips for me. DavidTQ 3
To get home cooked chips tasting a bit more like fish shop chips deep fry them as normal then wrap them in greaseproof paper then a newpaper style paper for 5-10 minutes! Its amazing what a difference it makes. I use greaseproof paper I picked up at a cash and carry meant for the job to do this. I started doing this after being put on to it by a former chip shop owner.

Poached Please! 2
Anstruther on the East coast of Fife.............award winning chippie.........cant go wrong. Downside if its a nice day you'll be out the door in a queue for up to 45 mins anyway.. yep, been to the famous chippie in Anstruther twice and it is just another chippie, albeit busy as you say. Broughty Ferry has a couple of very decent chippies. But the best chippie I ever had was in Dorset a couple to three years ago when on hols staying in Toller Porcorum. The chippie was a shack by the shore in Bridport - battered rock fish 2" thick - stunning - I felt like weeping when I left knowing it would be many years brfore I had another or would match it elsewhere. The batter...!
