WHY DO YOU HUNT

dead certain , its just in you, i started off when i was young going out with me uncles stag/fox hunting in devon..............use to go ferreting with them, had a break when i found women and drink and now apart from my family dogs are me life....................to watch the hounds run..............to hear a terrier baying..........to see a course...........no better feeling in the world, the only problem is the do gooders trying to feck you up at any oppertunity ............................they seem to forget where they come from

Hunting makes me feel content and forfilled. It's such a strong basic instinct that I couldn't possibly live a healthy life without feeding that instinct in some way. Some folks unknowingly feed it with some sort of sport or hobby, wildlife photography for instance, but for those of us like myself, only the real thing truely satisfies the ancient hunter within.

 

I was never introduced by my father or anyone else. It was just a part of me that I developed myself. Scratching about in the woods and river as a kid exercising that instinct without realising at the time.

 

I love the hunt and everything that comes with it. I feel closer to the world around me and better for it. We seem to spend our whole lives fighting nature and trying to remove ourselves from it, hunting gives you an understanding that isn't seen by most of modern society.

had a running dog of some kind from the day i was born in them days it was a whippet or whippet cross been asked loads of times over the years why i do what i do but hard to explain that its just something i love with a passion . if i was forced to give one concrete reason what it is i love i think it would boil down to how mutch i love watching a lurcher whippet greyhound or any other running dog running looose galloping .i even stop when driving if i see a running dog running about .

god knows, im a genetic mutant, none of my family have ever showed any interest or any of my ancestors from what i can find out, now my family think im a reet gyppo, i think my grandad is sometimes a bit ashamed to tell his friends my hobbies as it used to be the pastime of less desirable folk, but i don't care, i enjoy it and nothing better than seeing my pup running up and down the hedgerow doing what she was bred for whether she catches or not.

Ive always had the dream of being self sufficient and living off the grid alltogether and ive also always had this fascination with poachers of old (mustve read too much fiction as a kid lol) I am very old fashioned in some ways and also dislike how majority of folk couldnt catch a carrot... And if something changed in the economy like greece for example... Millions struggling to survive without going to supermarkets etc for food, if something like that ever happens I want to be one of the few able to feed myself and my family

I know that feeling! My mother is completely shocked and horrified that I hunt, all her "friends" are ispca types and she really tried to rear me to think like her I must be a throwback to my grandfather

My father and grandfather kept greyhounds, whippets and ferrets. My grandfathers next door neighbour had lurchers, ferrets, chickens and a couple of terriers kicking around, always remember a salmon net strung out across the garden being repaired,so it was inevitable that i was gonna go down the hunting and fishing road, those two gardens between the animals, the veg and the array of fur and feather that was laid out in them over the years are still as clear in my head today as if it was yesterday. Now I have my own grandson of the age of 5 the whole circle is starting again and o wouldnt change a thing its been a fcuking great life ,apart from the ban, atb to yous all for the forthcoming season.
