socks 32,253
Without trying to be controversial or start any sort of argument I can't understand why anybody lets their dogs get so unfit during the summer that they have to start working hard in August to get them fit for the season .......... 10 Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,163
To be fair, I've done bugger all with my dogs this summer. They get 3 x half hour walks a day and spend the rest of the time just lazing in the garden. So this season I will have to get them fit. Ive just started biking mine this week to tone them up a bit and then come September time I'll be mouthing about most weekends. By October they should be up to full speed hopefully. moonlighter 1,163
Lol. Mouching that should say. I normally do a lot more with the dogs in the summer, not hunting but longer walks etc, but this year with been busy at work, a new baby and new Rimfire permission, they have been more like pets this summer. chartpolski 23,147
I think a Lurcher should be "fit" all year round, but once they start the real work around September, they will run themselves to that next level of "fitness", and should be bouncing by November. Cheers. 2 Quote Link to post

iWorkChihuahuas 52
i dont understand why you dont just keep them fit all the time? just feed em up a bit more in the summer, and fitten to the peak in the winter, atb Quote Link to post

Stick to your toy breeds fella ......... 6 Quote Link to post
