NASA's latest mars mission..

I'd also like to see the building industry get a big injection of cash.....

I thought you were against needless wasting of money :hmm:

Hows that John.......Providing jobs for thousands and thousands of people in the building industry?

That's how, it's a false economy. If the demand is there so would the jobs be there.

We know more about builders over here than we'd like to.

Plenty stuff needing built...........no one has the money to build it.

Obviously uneconomic stuff, if this stuff paid it's own way there'd be a que lining up to build this stuff.

So we dont need better housing, better schools and better hospitals John?

Exactly.. Pointless building when no bugger can afford to buy said buildings once they've finished!

You only need to go somewhere like Cardiff and see the lovely new buildings all stood empty all along the bay area to see that. I'm sure I read somewhere about a brand new commuter village built just outside Dublin that is standing there virtually empty a few months back too.. :hmm:

Thats cause they've been built by an army of Poles who have taken our money and f****d off back home with it to live the life of Riley. How can you expect folk to buy stuff when there skint because they haven't got a job. Big circle this but if you help the big business by funding them money, in return they can pay better wages and the country runs sweet. It was happening before the recission so i dont understand why it couldn't happen now?... :hmm:

As for hospitals why do people in this country have to do charity work and fund raise so there children that need special care have to be flown all over the world for amazing treatments? Why not inject the money here instead. Why cant we have what the other Super countrys have...i thought we were ment to be one?... :icon_eek:

But sure what do you need any of those for when a couple of pages back you said we've enough technology as we are. Surely bog standard "today" homes, hospitals and schools will suffice.

That's it so, we stop here, grind to a shuddering halt and quickly become outdated through lack of knowledge into the future. We don't invent faster or more fuel effiecent anything, no new ways of doing anything, no new materials or processes. The next step is to regress and bring back the burning torches and pitch forks  You heretics won't take me alive :gunsmilie:

I've told you, those "unknown unknowns". When the Americas were discovered no one even knew they were there! Now, if we took your view point and had it back then, we still wouldn't know.

Of course you can always Google:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_some_everyday_things_that_NASA_has_invented

http://www.level10realtyblog.com/blog/2011/03/29/inventions-that-are-rooted-in-the-space-program/

So as you can see, not much has come because of space exploration, pretty much a waste of time really.

If i'm reading it correctly (probably not) most of this stuff was made to help with space exploration.....not what they found up there and brought back? So i'll ask again is there something up there that we need so much back here that spending millions of pounds/dollars on exploring it? Cheers...
