when we still have people starving to death on this planet i think it is disgusting that all that money is spent on that IMO.

That curiosity is what sets us apart from the rest of the animals here on earth mate, its what drives us on. If we don't act upon it we may as well all start living like some of the rural Pakistanis and Afghans who would like nothing better than to see us all live our lives like we're 1400 years in the past..

Scot and PJ.............your catching my drift i see...

Time to start protecting what we have and not what we might have.......

Sorry Lab, but you'll never be able to do that no matter how much cash you throw at it.. The only time that'll ever happen is when people finally give up the pursuit of wealth on a global scale. I can't see it happening any time soon if at all. Greed is very much a part of the human psyche, probably ingrained over a few hundred thousand years of evolution as a method of ensuring survival by ensuring that you and yours never went without food. It could easily have been shifted to wealth with the start of agriculture and the shift away from a hunter gathering way of life when people had a bit more time on their hands.

Besides, the Yanks paid for this mission so why are you harping on like they spent your money on it anyway?:laugh:

Its not just this topic its space exploration in general that i disagree with. Well not disagree with but i just think money can be well spent in other areas. If the Yanks want to go spend millions on it then so be it...but imo they have there country in a better state than ours at the moment...

I've asked the question once and no bugger answers yet still harp on the same old shit. Now, I'll ask you directly seeing as you are so disgusted with the funding of scientific research projects.

What use is Special Relativity to you? It's just a pointless bit or research right?

What would rather spend the money on Lab, serious question?

Celtic players........

To be serious then modern medicine and education. I'd like to see all hospitals fitted with the best equipment known to man. When my Mum was in hospital the machine that she needed wasn't available and it took them ages to get it into the hospital to keep her alive. "Costs the hospital 50 grand a day this machine you know?" Or something like that i was told......Took every bit of me to stop myself saying "I couldn't give a flying f**k, now get it here and get it switched on!!!!!!"... :censored:

I'd also like to see the building industry get a big injection of cash.....ship home all illegal immagrants and get people working again and get apprenticships up and running again...

Now this is where you tell me that this technology would exist if we never went into space eh?......

That's how, it's a false economy. If the demand is there so would the jobs be there.

We know more about builders over here than we'd like to.

The current climate as you say is f****d because the men in charge throw our money out the window and dont keep it here. So what you and John are saying is if money was pumped into the building industry, giving people jobs and have a realistic chance of slowing the crime rate that would be a bad move. Yet sending a f*****g space ship up to Mars, to confirm there is nothing up there, what we already know anyway............. is a good use of money. :hmm:

Obviously uneconomic stuff, if this stuff paid it's own way there'd be a que lining up to build this stuff.
